Shipping from US to Canada

Hi all,

I just did my first shipment to Canada (to Alberta from Orlando, FL) and I'm wondering about how long it should take for a 1st class package to make it there? The lady at the post office didn't want to give me a close estimate. Anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, she said.

Does anyone have any experience with this that could possibly narrow it down for me? I'm assuming maybe a week and a half? Online tracking/delivery confirmation was only available if I did express mailing, which raised the price another $30, so I opted out of that.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. :)

I mail from Western NY, and even when I send to Ottawa, which is only about 6 hours from us, it can take up to 6 weeks. Of course, the distance doesn't matter, because once it's in Customs, there is no rhyme or reason to Customs. For me, Canada has been some of the slowest delivery times whenever I send anything internationally.

I'm not sure if it helps, but I'm in Canada and if the shipment was reverse it would probably be around 2 weeks. Depends on where in Alberta. If it's a major city it'll be fast, but sometimes Canada Post can be slow with rural areas, and I've found that crossing the country takes a bit longer. If you ever mail to the eastern side of Canada it travels much faster. Not sure if that's because it detours through the states or not..
Anyhow, hope that helps you some. Hopefully the customer will let you know as soon as it arrives.

I told him it would take a couple of weeks. Hopefully that's accurate and he's understanding. Thank you for your advice.

Hi Jaime , I shipped to Canada (Toronto ) 2 times , it was a first class mail and it took 5 business day . The post office doesn't wanna say the date when you don't get the tracking number but I don't think it takes more than this though

I have had packages to Canada take only 2 weeks and others took just over 4 weeks. There's no guaranties on time. I would tell them 2-3 weeks but not get get concerned unless its over 4 weeks.
