Shipping Help!

Hello all! I just shipped my first order today, and since I am using small bubble mailers, the package doesn't qualify for being allowed to have a tracking number. (Must be 3/4 of an inch thick). SO, can anyone help me out on some options that I can offer buyers to give them security/peace of mind while I'm shipping items to them--but without being super expensive for them? If I can't use a tracking number, what else can I do?
(BTW: I considered having them sign for it, but that can be a pain if they aren't home when the package comes and they have to go to the PO, etc....It's happened to me before at inconvenient times...)

Could you add just a little more bubble wrap to you package, it won't add much weight but it could make you package thick enough to qualify.

Knock on wood, but I have had very few shipping issues. I never use the "signature required" unless requested by my customer.

I would suggest that you get yourself a small box of large packing peanuts and slip one inside each of your mailers.

That way you will be larger than the 3/4" minimum for small packet.

You can also print your postage online and not have to pay extra for tracking .

Ooh, packing peanuts sounds good too...It wouldn't take many per envelope, and would definitely add necessary "bulk."...

Wow, I'm discovering a whole new world here, the world where you need to make your packages thicker. In Switzerland, anything over 2 cm thick qualifies as a package and shipping jumps from 5-9$ to 25$ so I keep trying very hard to stay under the 2 cm limit.

Agree - if postage was purchased and shipped from Etsy - wouldn't a shipping notification automatically go to the customer?

Etsy (and Paypal for that matter) still automatically sends a shipping notification. I was talking about having something like a tracking number for buyers who are watching for their packages. Perhaps I should just look into insurance? I just don't know how much that would cost and hate to increase shipping prices much--especially since my items are so small.

I had a mailer that was tiny and weighed under an oz and it still had a tracking number since I bought the label on Etsy. Weird.

Do you buy online? Postage I mean?

I don't pay extra for tracking - yet, when I purchase through Etsy, it automatically send notification and tracking info to my customers.
