Setting Goals at the Beginning of This Journey

After reading and reading about goal setting I'd love to hear from ya'll on what are reasonable goals for a new shop.

I know I need to be patient and I'm in it for the long haul. I'll be adding new items to my shop this week too.

Thanks!

Re: Setting Goals at the Beginning of This Journey

When I opened my shop in November 2014, my goal was to make my first sale within 3 months. I did it in 3 months and 3 days :)

I just keep plugging away and keep adding new items. My current goal is to have 40 items listed by the end of Lent.....can't wait to go to the fabric store this weekend!

I love your shop, your items are so cute!

Re: Setting Goals at the Beginning of This Journey

My original goal was to attempt to sell at least 2 a week, just to have a little something extra to pay towards my student loans at the end of the month.

I've ended up selling over 2 a DAY! I've been very fortunate. I didn't expect it at all. So set your goal at whatever you feel is feasible, but just know you may surpass it sooner than you think!
Good luck!

Re: Setting Goals at the Beginning of This Journey

Hi, Aron, my approach has been to have ongoing mini-goals. My first goal was just to open my shop with at least ten items. Then I set myself the goal of adding two new items each week. (By now, I'm usually adding more.) Next was to set up Pinterest, then Twitter, then to join teams and participate once daily, then to work on my SEO.

I try not to make sales my goal b/c buyer behavior seems too far out of my control. Instead, I work on what I can manage--increasing visibility for my shop.

Re: Setting Goals at the Beginning of This Journey

Our short goal was to just being viewed...we did not expect much about selling for the first month for sure. We did sell in the first week. Now we have a bigger goal for this summer. We will be working very hard during May, June and July:
_ Creating new collections
_ Bringing new products from Spain and Germany.
_ Social media accounts: Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

I love what Erica has to say: to be focus on what you can manage. Sales will come along.

HAPPY SELLING!
