Hi there,
I find on Etsy that:
1. Most people's shops don't blow up right away, 5 sales in 2 months is pretty good for a beginner, good job! As you keep making sales, and getting positive feedback, buyers will feel more comfortable buying from you.
2. Facebook was worthless to me as a marketing source. I don't have time to blog. I don't have a twitter or web page. Many other people are successful at this, but I am not so I don't have any pointers to offer there!
3. Sales are directly affected by your ability to create new listings regularly and by how many products you have in your shop.
In January I had 60 sales over the year and 4 months or so I had been selling on Etsy. I decided to make a REALISTIC goal FOR ME that is, 100 sales by May 1. That's quite a percentage increase, it's a goal that would increase my sales significantly but is not impossible.
I'm almost there, and this is how:
In December I saw a little chart Etsy was demo-ing that graphed your sales activity per month. I realized the months that had the most sales, were the months I listed new products and had plenty of products in-store. Since January, I've been trying to keep my shop above 40 products at all times, and list a new item as often as I can, (3-5 new products weekly).
This is important because the more products you have, the more likely you are to be found on Etsy. Listing a new item each day is the goal, because this also helps you get found.
I've been working 2-3 hours a night, from 8-11 generally to make sure I have new products to photograph on my days off. Then I'll list a new item on my lunch break or weekends.
If you have good products, I suspect you do, with 5 sales as a newbie, you just need to get found!
So set a realistic goal and
