September crash?

August was stellar for me and I got the impression that it was pretty great for a lot of others as well. The first week of September was ok, but my shop completely crashed by the second... views, sales, everything. I'm just wondering if others have had a similar experience.

I actually really hope that I *am* sort of alone in this because that means that the market is thriving and I just have to figure out how to tap back into it. Any thoughts?

Re: September crash?

The same happened to me. Great August with Sept being sort of slow. I finally signed up for DC and got one sale for 3 items. Not sure if that was the reason. It all seems to go in cycles so we have to ride it out.

Re: September crash?

Same for me too :( I literally have been swamped since last Christmas and this past week has been like crickets in my shop! I am surprised, a little relieved because I am actually catching up BUT also get slightly depressed each day when I don't have a sale. Sounds like not too many shoppers out there right now...but I know it will soon be busy, busy, busy for the holidays :)

Re: September crash?

Major crash over here, too :( My views are at about 3% of August's. I'd expect them to be somewhere between 40 and 60%.

Re: September crash?

I'd say that's similar to our situation, although we've had some waves of orders here and there. Over this past week, though...tumbleweeds.

Re: September crash?

There seem to be enough people seeing a slowish Sept to reassure me to not make panic changes and just sit it out for a bit.

Re: September crash?

August was slower for me, and then I've been getting at least a sale a day since the 1st. But this is the season when people start wanting soaps and lotions and goodies for themselves before the season of Christmas buying gets started.

Everyone's shop is different - make new stuff, list new stuff, tweak tags and titles and decide how you're going to promote for Christmas.

Re: September crash?

A lot of people were spending money to get the kids back to school (clothes, supplies, etc.). Things should start picking up soon as they venture back out on Etsy.

Re: September crash?

My shop has been pretty slow since I started out. I made a sale yesterday though!!! :) Yay! But that's one of three sales I've made in a couple months. I trade to pass the time and keep things moving a little bit. I also trade through etsy because I barter in my life outside of etsy and it's something I just love doing. But I'm sorry to hear people aren't doing so good. I know the feeling of making few sales all too well, but I'm doing fabulous in life and I hope everyone else is too!

Re: September crash?

August was terrible for me. Sept so far has been great for views. Still waiting for my September sale!

Re: September crash?

my views for september have been suckish compared to every other month, but i've been consistently making sales since august, so i don't really care about views as much anymore. i tend to use the slower times to prep for christmas. i have two lines that i'm trying to push out before the end of October.
