Separate Website?

Do you have a separate website out side of Etsy? I'm looking at creating one but do not know where to start, where do you get a domain, what webhost service to use etc. I also saw you can get a plugin that directs traffic back to Etsy to pay etc. Help please!

I have a separate website. The dilemma for me is that a webstore directly on my site would cost $15/month through Volusion, or even more through other shopping cart services, so etsy seemed like a better buy. But then it makes more sense to just direct people to etsy rather than my site (less clicking to get to a page where a purchase can be made). I supposed it's possible to set up my own store to just link directly to where someone can sign into etsy and pay. Need to think about it more. I'm not at the place where I'm ready to maintain/promote a stand alone website yet. But I bought the domain name for my website but have it directed to the etsy store. So whether you go to www.donnadstore.com or www.etsy.com/shop/donnadstore, you still get to my shop.
