Sells after Xmas holidays

Hi,

this is my first Xmas-New Year time as a Etsian seller. I was just wondering: how are your sells after the Xmas and New Year? I had a good December. What about January? Usually this month is not very good for sellers, am I right?
Thank you, all.

Mirjam

Me too, but I'm enjoying the time with my family, & working on a new line of digital papers - & planning to experiment with my watercolor christmas present. What do you do in down times?

Re: Sells after Xmas holidays

this is my second year on etsy and January is a slow month, which was good for me. It gave me time to build up more stock.

Re: Sells after Xmas holidays

This is my sixth Holidays season on Etsy.
Sales usually slow down after Christmas, but pick up in January.

Many people get money as Christmas presents and they are keen to spend it.
They also start buying for Valentine's day, weddings and of course the usual reasons, like birthdays or treating themselves.

The reason why many shops have low sales in January is that they were busy with sales in the previous months and sort of neglected their shop (introducing new products, stocking up on regular products, promoting, etc.).

Re: Sells after Xmas holidays

This is my first year, but I had a sell because of an After Christmas deal. And It's a good chance to stock up for Valentines day. I also plan on doing some big shop changes and new listings in January (Hoping to have a grand unvailing January 2nd, if anyone wants to come help hype it up!) so I hope that keeps traffic and business good.

Re: Sells after Xmas holidays

It's my 1st Christmas season too on Etsy...I'll try to stock up my shop in Jan since I only have about 20 items left in stock. I'd also like to develop some news prototypes for 2013...We'll see how it'll all turn out!

Wish you all a great 2013 here on Etsy! :)

Re: Sells after Xmas holidays

In present down times I am creating new products, thinking of making a new banner, being more active in teams. I will try to make my shop more attractive, giving also after holiday's special offer.. And yes, spending more time with my family.

Re: Sells after Xmas holidays

I did really well in my first six weeks after reopening this shop in mid-October. Things slowed down in mid-December, which I fully expected because most of my inventory are Christmas cards. My views over the last couple of days are next to nothing. I need to get into Valentine's Day mode before the holiday passes me by. My brain is still in Christmas vacation mode, even though I technically didn't get a vacation (but the rest of my family did - boo!).

I have to change my avatar and banner back to the normal one and remove sale titles and tags. I'm also going to start a destash section now that my son gave me a new toy for Christmas - a photo studio in a box! I have a ton of scrapbooking supplies I'd like to pass on and this is the perfect place to do it. :)
