Re: Selling for almost a Year

You do lovely wire wrapping. You could use some nice stones. There are lots of sellers here who sell finished stones.

What are you doing for marketing? Are you staying on Etsy? Have you passed out business cards? Attended craft shows? Joined facebook and twitter and pinterest and wanelo? Do you blog/comment on blogs/advertise on blogs?

Re: Selling for almost a Year

Photos.

There are so many jewelry items on Etsy that you really have to stand apart from everyone else to get noticed. You should have a cohesive look to your shop and your photos don't. Some are outdoors, some in, some really dark, some really bright... A lot of your photos are cropped too close. I would try to get the entire item in the shot so people can immediately see what it is. Also, I would remove the quarters from your shots, especially the first photos. Those will never be chosen for Treasury picks and international shoppers may not know what a quarter is and therefore have no comparison. I prefer to see some other object used to give size comparison. I don't sell jewelry so I don't have any other ideas that would help, but try looking on the front page or through the Browse category to see what gets picked for Treasuries and see what catches your eye first to get some ideas.

Hope that helps a little :)

Re: Selling for almost a Year

You might actually want to raise some of your prices. Does the customer looking for jewelry in your price range actually wear the type of jewelry you sell or are they looking for something cute and trendy? I think you need to figure out your target customers and what that customer may be looking for.

I agree with all of the above. Do some research on how to price your work. This blog helped me when I was working on pricing.

I've been working on my shop since last summer with only a few sales. I'm working on improving my photos almost as much as I'm making jewelry! I'm hopeful.

Re: Selling for almost a Year

I dont have many sales on Etsy either, dont know why I have 100% positive fb.
I agree with the others and use your business cards. My business cards have a sample of fudge attached to them. Labor intensive but it has increased my traffic to my website. Hang in there.

Re: Selling for almost a Year

Your items are lovely!

Three quick suggestions:
1. Don't include the coin (for scale) in the main photo - it's distracting. It's fine in one of the other pics. And make sure all of your photos have a consistent background and lighting e.g. all white.
2. Make your shop announcement state EXACTLY what you sell in your shop in 160 characters or less (spaces included)...it's how you are found on google search. Save your newsy items and info about yourself for your profile or About pages.
3. Definitely pin items from your own shop! Create a board specifically for that.
Good luck and hang in there! :)

Check your tags, I think you can market a set of necklaces as bridal gifts which put you in another catagorie.

Re: Selling for almost a Year

Everyone sort of said what I was going to say.

The biggest is photos and not having coins in your first photo. Try and streamline your photos as much as possible (this doesn't mean 'white background' but DO try and be consistent) so you're shop has one look.
