I have been a buyer since February 2009. That was my first account with Etsy. I chose not to disclose my favorites for many reasons. However, you can be sure that 90% of the time I went back and purchased those items. I was not interested in participating in anyway - and was not interested in other people looking at my favorites.
Having a shop is quite different. Now I do share, belong to Teams, include shops in my circle, etc., and have even purchased a few items - but I still do most of my shopping through my other account with Etsy.
So, you see, it may not be that bad to have "secret admirers". They may represent prospective buyers.
