Search ads and key words

I hate how the search ad keywords are the smallest keywords or keyword sets that I have. It's an unfair representation of my keywords and I hate how Etsy picks them and I can delete them, but not edit them.

People who pay for this advertising should get to pick their own keywords.

Re: Search ads and key words

One thing about Etsy picking the most simple keywords is that my impressions are used for very general searches that may have nothing to do with my items. It's a bad match.

I also wish we could add keywords like we do tags! They really are the simplest examples of my tags.

Re: Search ads and key words

I modified all of my tags of advertised items to make them more relevant and art-related. So Etsy's search engine didn't like selecting from longer tags and found the smallest tags that they could and wouldn't let me add more. So with my edits, I ended up with about 1/3 as many tags as I had before. It likes tags like "blue". That way people searching for blue underwear get to see images of blue paintings. Perfect!!!! This latest business model seems like a spoof to try to deflect from some major problems, and all it will end up doing is highlight the pre-existing problems and make them worse.

Re: Search ads and key words

I am having a similar problem. I sell party supplies, and I would like to promote items for a "milk and cookies" party theme. The keywords that come up though are "cookie." I'm not selling a "cookie" and I don't think anyone who is looking for party supplies is going to search for a "cookie." Kind of frustrating. I can't seem to think of a way around it...
