Search Ads. What's most effective?

Just wondering what sellers have found to be the most successful (leading to sales) to use search. Is it better to promote a few items and get lots of hits for those, or spread it around so everything gets a little exposure? Or are there other suggestions?

i have not seen any real traffic -- let alone sales -- directed to my shop from the etsy search ads. lots of "impressions" but not much else!

I aim my search ads for specific items ( wind chimes and keychains ) I run them off and on during busy times. And keep an eye if one keyword is using up all my impressions without results. It doesn't add up to much $. But I get a few views and feel like I am doing what I can to promote them. It has directly resulted in 2 sales and so far I am ahead for money spent versus sales.
