Sales

I opened my store in December and started posting items in April. To date I've had no sales. Would anyone be willing to critique my store and give me some feedback.

Thanks.

Re: Sales

A banner would be great to have at the top - it shows people what you're all about!

Prices look good (maybe low). You could probably afford to take a few bucks off your shipping and add to the item price because shipping isn't bad but it's a little on the high side.

Photos are cool. You should use all 5 photo slots though - maybe show what the backs or sides look like.

You could work on your descriptions a bit, make them a bit longer, a bit more personal.

Use all your tags and work on making them more specific. You use a lot of single words, but you could fill it out a lot more by listing the patterns and colors, etc.

Add more stuff to your shop as well! More pieces to sell means more variety and more people will come to see.

You can promote it by making treasuries, participating on the forums... Do you have a blog? Twitter? Tubmlr? Facebook?

Hope that helps a bit! You have a nice product :)

Re: Sales

MadeinMogotes, thank you for your input. I really appreciate it.

I do have a blog and I also have a Facebook page for my business.

I will definitely work on the things you suggested.

Thanks again.

Re: Sales

You've already gotten great advice

As far as your photos go, remember that flash is the evil enemy. In my personal opinion, while the black offers nice contrast for many of your items, it seems a little "blah" / depressing and many of your items are cute and fun. Definitely fill up those slots, take close ups, show the back, sides, stage it a little differently, etc.

If I was your customer I would want to know more about the towel that the embroidery is on. Cotton? Soft? Hand wash? Machine wash? How big is it? Etc.

You need to promote the heck out of yourself. It takes time and a lot of work, but you get "lost in the crowd" if you don't. And keep making listings but be sure to spread out the postings and not put them all up at once.

Good luck!

Re: Sales

Hi Kathy,

Hope you don't mind my comment but I was looking for a shop critique a while back and found the Sassy Critiques Team to be extremely helpful.

Hope that helps. =) Good luck.

Re: Sales

I agree with the previous comments. I think your items are very nice, but the pictures could use some work. The titles seem pretty good, but I think your tags could use some work as well. For example, consider adding "womens ball cap" or "bride hat" etc. Good luck!

Re: Sales

You have some nice pieces, but your pictures are a little dark. I hate photography and can't afford a photographer so I feel your pain. I've also been learning to take better pictures and I have no doubt at all that you will be able to give a better idea of what your items look like as you are doing it longer. Keep polishing, your stuff is worth it!

Re: Sales

Try to think about what would make your items special and make people feel like you couldn't get them anywhere else. Your embroidery is nice but try to figure out what would make people need to buy from you and no one else. And I agree with the banner idea!

Re: Sales

Cute items but I think you need a model/s on your bride groom hats for example. Doesn't have to be an actual couple but it would be fun to find a couple younger people to model your hats, act like they are in love. Maybe stage a pic with him getting down on one knee to propose. Another of them kissing but with the hats turned to the side so you can see the writing.
Just a couple examples to add to the great advice you got above.
