Sales vs Feedback

The other day an etsy shop owner thanked me for including their item in one of my treasuries and mentioned how odd it is that I don't have more feedback than I already do considering my amount of sales. She then went on to give me her ideas on how I can get more feedback from my customers. I had to go back and re read what she wrote me to make sure I understood what she was saying. I never asked for help or advice and was taken back a bit when I got her message. I am not upset at her at all, it just took me for surprise. I'm now starting to question the amount of feedback I receive. I have been told that no feedback is good feedback, but I have wandered why I'm not getting more feedback. I am now needing advice.

Thanks so much!

Re: Sales vs Feedback

You have a better ratio than I do and honestly, I'm not worried about it. I focus on providing quality products rather than stressing over feedback. The feedback I have is positive. On other sites where I don't log in frequently, I'm not as good about leaving feedback. Some people are more inclined to leave feedback only if they are mad or upset about something.

I wouldn't get too worked up about it

Re: Sales vs Feedback

Etsy is rolling out a new thing where they send an email to people to remind them to leave feedback so that might help a little. Hopefully ;)

Re: Sales vs Feedback

You have nearly the same ratio as me….I wouldn't / don't really worry about it. When I first started and was discouraged by a low response rate of feedback I would include "P.S, your feedback is appreciated :)" in my thank you note and that seemed to get more people to respond. But once you get above like, I dunno, 50 or so ratings I feel like customers get a good idea of whether or not you're trustworthy.

Re: Sales vs Feedback

I have customers asking me how to leave feedback. Does anyone know where I can cut and past customer feedback directions? I have been searching for it and have not found it yet.

Also when will Etsy start sending out feedback reminders to customers? I get feedback reminders as a buyer to my seller account; but it does not appear that my customers are receiving same. Any suggestions or dates as to when Etsy will begin their new feedback notification? Thanks

Re: Sales vs Feedback

Everytime anyone purchases through Etsy, at the very top of the page on the left side, there will be a reminder (after the date the item should have shipped to them), the reminder will be something like, "you have an item ready to review).

I honestly don't think the average buyer spends nearly as much time on Etsy as us shop owners do, so they may not even notice it.

Since I run 2 businesses, one on Etsy, one in my interior design business, I feel really confident that if someone was unhappy you would certainly hear about it.

Re: Sales vs Feedback

I actually just looked at your shop, over 600 sales in 2 years, I think that is great. If I had that, I would be jumping up at down and not really worry about my "star" rating.

Re: Sales vs Feedback

Michelle,
I would not worry about your feedback ratio. It is about average. I do think it was very forward of that person to question you on it and then go on to give you suggestions. If it ever happens again, I would just either ignore, or nicely tell them you are not concerned. If your customers were unhappy, you would know. You have a lovely shop!

Re: Sales vs Feedback

I don't think your ratio is bad at all! And apart from the one who didn't read the description it's all really nice feedback.

Re: Sales vs Feedback

If you're happy with your sales and the feedback you have is good, I wouldn't worry about it. If My sales were higher, I would spend more time making new items and less time promoting (maybe I should be doing that anyway!)

Re: Sales vs Feedback

You were right: no news from customers is good news.
It means your customers were happy with their purchase (otherwise you would have heard from them).
Etsy's feedback/review system does not work very well. Most customers don't know or don't care about it.
I get lots of convo's and e-mails of customers telling me how much they love my product(s) and my customer service. It would be nice if future customers could read those too...., but somehow the review system on Etsy doesn't work very well.
