Sales Number

Would anyone know if there is a way to block people from looking what I've sold?

Thanks!

Re: Sales Number

Fishcouple,

I have not tried it yet, but I think I found a way.

Go to"Info and Appearance"
then Select "Options"
then "Sold Listings" (at the bottom)
and select "Show them"or "Hide them"

Re: Sales Number

You can still see any item that has a review.

Re: Sales Number

Why do you want to block the photos of sold items? The only reason I see is for the privacy for the buyers. Someone buys something and doesn't want the world to know.

Re: Sales Number

Thanks Rich -- I want people to see my reviews. No problem. :)

Bev -- Good question. There's pros and cons, I guess. My reason might sound wired... I just didn't want people to copy my popular items.. :)

Re: Sales Number

No I meant you can see your sold items if they've been reviewed. You can see the complete listing.

Re: Sales Number

Yep, strange move from Etsy, as usual.
You can (finally) choose to not have your sold items seen. BUT now each review shows the entire sold item listing.... Brilliant! Not.
It serves no purpose. Other than annoying sellers, which Etsy seems to think is a good thing to do.

PS: I closed my shop, but want people to still be able to see what I used to sell. Yet I am happy for other sellers that they can finally turn that off.

Re: Sales Number

I finally figured out what Rich meant. LOL!

When someone clicks on a particular listing, and check and reviews, it will show all the reviews related to that listing, then the rest.

That's perfectly fine. I am happy that I can choose to not have my sold items shown.

Cheers! :)

Re: Sales Number

Fishcouple, I think Richard means that when people check your reviews, they get to see the listings those reviews were left for.
That will happen a lot.

Re: Sales Number

I don't know why anyone would want people to be able to find sold items from outside searches. It's another source of traffic. I've made sales from people google searching and finding sold out items.
I want as many opportunities for people to see my shop as possible

BeaG : Enjoy your "retirement." I am glad you're hanging around.

Hey Frankie from Fish

You're still missing it. But thanks for playing

And BTW: My name is not "Rich. If it was that's what the "Rich" next to my picture. Perhaps you thought I don't know how to spell my name?

Re: Sales Number

Thanks, Richard!

I got (and still get, even though I closed my shop yesterday) views through Google on items that sold out 8 or 9 years ago. What is the use of that? People will only be disappointed.

Re: Sales Number

According to Google, Etsy links of Sold Items are still active links. I don't think Google likes that.

On one hand that's ok as people can find our shop. But it so annoying for a potential customer who spent some time searching for a gift, they find the link in your shop among others and then find out it's sold. Maybe they'll open an account with Etsy and contact you but maybe they'll walk away still annoyed.

Re: Sales Number

I've had that happen to me, finding a link to someones shop and the item is sold. In that past, I would have given up there. But now I know I should contact the shop owner to see if there is another same or very similar item available.

I know when that 'Shucks, this sold' (my wording) shows up that Etsy lists other similar items, usually from other shops. Do you think Etsy will add a note as a reminder to the customer searching that they should contact the shop owner? Not everyone realizes this is a possibility.
