SEO: Does Browse use the same criteria as Google for SERP?

I've been doing a lot of researching and reading about SEO - Post Panda and Penguin updates. The changes from before the creature changes to what SEO looks like now seems to be a Mars/Venus type thing.

I want my shop to succeed, be seen and rank highly in Browse and Google but can I do both at the same time?

Is Etsy using the same set of SEO criteria that google is using?

If not who do I optimize for Etsy or Google?
