Rush Shipping

Do you charge extra to push someones order ahead of the others? I have been really busy with orders coming in for weddings and so far nobody has been in a hurry but I have seen some shops offer a rush for a fee. Do you and if so what do you charge for the rush?

Re: Rush Shipping

If you're talking about a separate rush order upgrade listing, that's not allowed on Etsy. I've seen a lot of shops that offer upgrade listings but it's against the TOU's to make a listing conditional upon the purchase of another listing. I just stumbled on a shop today that had a rush order listing for $15 and she sells pre-made digital files! How long does it take to email a file? (sorry, I went a little off topic!)

Re: Rush Shipping

I don't think it's fair to let other customers "cut in line" at the checkout.

Re: Rush Shipping

If my schedule can handle working the "overtime hours" to fit in an order on a rush, as opposed to the full noted turnaround time, Ill offer this option in a custom quote for the whole listing. This should never push someone elses order to be late, but it may be doable to handle it all depending on my workload at the time.

As Judy mentioned, you cannot have a separate listing for something like a rush, but many of my orders are customized already, so the quote and listing is tailored to my buyers if needed.

Re: Rush Shipping

Maybe you could relist the item with overnight delivery.

Re: Rush Shipping

I'll happily work overtime for a rush order, but I wouldn't push other orders down the line & end up being late with them. Not fair to those customers & too stressful for me. And given that I'd be working overtime, I'd charge accordingly.

Re: Rush Shipping

I'm curious about this topic too, as I am also in the bridal business. What do you do if a customer pays for a made-to-order custom listing + the normal shipping (I do USPS Priority 2-3 business days for most). Then a few days later comes back and asks for her item to be shipped overnight once it's complete (and she'll pay the extra fees). Overnight through FedEx is an extra $30-$40. I find a number of folks order stuff and then come back a day later or so with a request for an add-on or want a rush on the shipping. I want to be able to accommodate my customer without a hassle to them, but also don't want to break any Etsy rules.
