Renewing a listing moves the item

Something I wish for from Etsy: I wish that when I renew a listing, it would appear in the same position in the shop as it did before the renewal. Seems like I have to put in quite a bit of rearranging every time a renewal comes up. Pretty please, Etsy?

Yes!
This is one of the things they did not think about when they introduced the option to rearrange our shops, years ago.
Just like they forgot that they promised us at the time that they we would also get the option of rearranging our shop section. It never happened.

I also agree! I would also love if etsy would change the way convos appear in both the website and mobile app, that the most recent addition to the convo appears at the top not at the bottom. Some of my convo streams get quite long and scrolling through them can be quiet a process.

I agree that when you have strived for a beautiful front page layout it could be very frustrating! However, renewing a item puts the item first on your front page but it also puts it first on the category page, in front of all the items like yours. Your item may be on page 25 in that category, to renew puts it up front. The option is the re-arrange, which is free. I have two stores, one is for home décor, which has the re-arrange option, and the other is a book store, that Etsy has removed the re-arrange button. With over two hundred books to circulate it has been a real disadvantage to my store. Please post any results that you get from Etsy. Good Luck!

I hate this too, I always open up two tabs: one with what my shop currently looks like & one to renew the listing. That way I can reference my old shop front when I go to re-arrange my shop. It's nice to put new things up front & have the option to re-arrange, but it is also time consuming.

Booksvintage, of course it makes sense for Etsy to place a renewed item on top.
But since we got the rearrange shop option a couple of years ago, it makes more sense to US to have it go back to its previous spot in our shops.
It will still show up on top of category pages, etc., so there is no harm in it.

I like my new listings to move to the front of the page - other wise our pages would get boring from staying too similar.

Newest posting appears on the top of listings on my shop and I did not think that I can arrange the order unless paying to Etsy promote.
Am I correct? I'm still new and have lots to learn still.

Nao, seems like you are mixing up two things.
Paid promoting is for Etsy search result pages.

Emily, those of us who use the rearrange shop function do so to make our shops more interesting, not more boring.

I rearrange my shop fairly frequently, but I'm actively in control of that type of rearrangement. What I dislike about the default when renewing a listing is that it is certainly not in its optimum position. It's often quite intrusive to the layout. Again, Etsy, are you listening?
