Hi Kimberly. I've been to both the Brooklyn and Chicago fairs this year. I split a booth both times. Brooklyn was decent, but I'm not sure I made a huge profit (I didn't keep track of all my cash sales, so I don't have a total number), but Chicago was insane and I did better than I ever thought I would.
I think part of this was that the location for Brooklyn was a new place and not many people about this new location. Chicago is always the busiest of the fairs, probably because it's the original Renegade and many people return year after year, it's also in a great location. (But I heard from another vendor that while she was very busy, most of those people were "just looking"... not a lot of sales.)
I've heard from a few people that the holiday shows aren't big money makers -- but my booth mate told me that she makes a TON of money at holiday shows because everyone is buying xmas gifts... so I think it varies for everyone!
If you get accepted and really want to save money, I'd say try to go to the closest fair to where you live (save money for travel), share a booth, and try to find a friend that can let you borrow a tent for free.
