Related Items From This Shop Feature

I just noticed this morning the new Related Items From This Shop section at the very bottom of an item listing! Very cool! Not exactly sure when this feature was added, but I love it - another way to get customers to see more of our listings! Thank you Etsy!

where do you see that? i can't seem to find it. it's a great idea though.

I can't see it either but love the idea! Maybe they have to roll it out in stages :)

It sounds like Etsy is testing this out - so you're right, probably rolling it out in stages. If you can see it, it is listed at the very bottom of an item listing page. There are four related items from your shop that appear. The items selected for our shop are our four featured products.

I also noticed that the Tags and Materials section no longer shows up automatically - instead, there is now a link that says "Show Item Details". When you click this link, the "About This Item", "Tags", and "Materials" sections appear.

I really like that the Tags don't automatically show up - as a customer, I don't really care about the tags that were used for a listing. I would much rather see the other products the shop has to offer.

I hope this feature isn't just a quick test - but rather a permanent change!

I wanted to see if I could find more information about this - just found this note from Admin about this change:

I wanted to let you know you’ve stumbled upon one of our experiments.

In order to improve the listing page, we have to make changes. Every so often, we test changes on Etsy with a small number of people at random. If you see something different on the listing page right now, it might because you are in an experiment. Given their nature, we don't announce these tests and we can't help you get into them either -- doing so could skew our data.

Simply put: There is no better way to help us evaluate these changes than by testing them with actual Etsy visitors and members. This allows us to gather data and learn the impact of the change. Testing new approaches is a fairly common practice online and is used regularly by Google, Yahoo and Facebook.

Just because something launches as an experiment does not mean it will launch to everyone. Actually -- given their nature -- most will not. But all of the experiments are successful because they allow us to learn more about how people use Etsy. And in learning more about how people use Etsy, we can improve it.

As a long time blogger and editor I definitely think the related items photo layout is a VERY good idea. I hope it is not just tested but available to everyone...soon!
