Re-shipping charge?

Question -- I received a package back due to the provided address being invalid. The customer provided a new address, and I'm wondering if you re-charge the buyer for shipping when this happens (since you have to ship it again).

Usually I just eat the cost, but this particular item is one I wasn't making much on to begin with, so cutting in another $5 isn't ideal. Is it unreasonable to charge the buyer for shipping again?

Re: Re-shipping charge?

If it's expensive shipping (say overseas) and I am not feeling generous, I send an invoice for the shipping. If I'm feeling generous or it's our standard US shipping ($2.66) I just eat it.

Hi, Bea, what a pain. Good advice above. I usually just eat the cost of reshipping.

Re: Re-shipping charge?

I try to keep my shipping costs reasonable, so reshipping does come out of my pocket. If the buyer made a mistake I almost always ask them to pay for reshipment, then you can have their correct address on file in a new listing.
