Re-energized! I just screen printed my own fabric - so fun!

So I've been a bit of creative lull, because I've been filling orders instead creating new stuff. Well, today I screen printed my own fabric from one of my own illustrations, and made clutch out of it. I'm totally re-energized, and ready to fill some more of those orders. What do you do to get re-energized?

That's fantastic! I have to take a class for that and I think I will start next fall by learning silkscreen. It sounds so interesting.

I can't wait to make prints or make my own fabric with this technique. I get energized when I learn something new or work with paints. I love painting.

I bought the book, "Printing by Hand" by Lena Corwin, and that was really helpful. And I did my illustrations in Adobe Illustrator (but a pen and ink or pencil drawing would work just fine too). I then had a local printer make my photo emulsion screens for me instead of trying to make the screens myself (which is something the book recommended). So, now I have these screens that I can use over and over again as long as I keep them clean. It really is so easy and so much fun - I feel like I'm in elementary school doing an art project every time I make a print - and I've gotten my kids involved in the process. It's really fun. Did I say it's fun? Because it's allota fun.

yes, screen printing is actually really fun and so useful. The paper for my Minnie banners is screen printed by hand. I've had other sellers ask them where I get the paper from. :)

I just recently took a class on screenprinting and it was very fun and energized for me too! Any time I learn a new technique or skill I get a new burst of energy. Now I am hoping to figure out how to tie screenprinting into my dollmaking or related items. I am also wanting to learn how to dye yarn for spectacular and unique doll hair!

And, I forgot that I can screen print on paper. I use my screens to make pretty stationary too! Yeah.

FUN! It looks fabulous! I've been in a lull myself and recently decided that since I love photography and graphic design that I would finally add a new art section to my shop. I've been really debating it for awhile - I thought I should keep it all candles, but I decided that I would move my shop toward home decor in general.
