Quit Your Day Job - How Did You do It?

Would love to hear some success stories! If you were able to turn your business into a full time gig I'd love to hear how you did it! Looking for heros! =)
I have 3 shops at the moment, this one and supply shop and a clothing shop that my mom and I do together and I'd love to make them my full time job as I'm expecting a baby and the father won't be involved so I'd love be able to work from home and support us cause with what little I make as a waitress is no where near enough to pay my bills and hire a babysitter while I'm at work.

Re: Quit Your Day Job - How Did You do It?

I started my shop because i couldn't find a job. I had a 1 year old at the time and it was hard to make it work but this is feeding my family now. I had another baby in the meantime (she's 7 months now) and it gets really hard at times, but we are making it work.

I feel blessed for being able to work from home and be there for my babies whenever they need me.

Wishing you all the best, you can make it work, especially if your mom is in this too... she will be a huge help once the baby arrives :)

I started this venture many many moons ago with a single crochet hook and a ball of yarn and over the years it kind of mushroomed out of control.

I had always enjoyed working with the yarns from the time when I was a kid in high school but for many years the corporate world just got in the way.

So when I left the corporate world everything sort of fell into place.

My story is about like C.Gal's. I was a hobby silver caster for a while while I worked corporate, then I ended up losing my job and couldn't find anything that wasn't soul killing, so I sort of fell into the space I'm in now. I go hungry some months, but I make my bills, and I'm happier this last year than I think I have ever been.

I'm a graphic designer who just found it better to offer what I do internationally, so Etsy was the natural choice to offer inexpensive logos, social media buttons and other bits and pieces to people who wouldn't normally have access to a graphic designer at a reasonable cost. I also freelance outside of Etsy as does my fiance. I'm running around at the moment sorting everything out to keep things running smoothly when our baby arrives in three weeks!
