Quick question - are my photos too bright?

My photos seem fine on my laptop screen but today I used my husbands computer and on his monitor they seem way too bright. I am not sure whose settings are off, might be both. And I do not have a third option right now. Can someone please take a look and see how they look on your screen.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Kristi,
I love the little bear with the hat! :)

I don't know what others will think, but to me, just the rattles on the white background are a little too bright..but it's not a big deal. :)

Hope that helps

Not to sneak promote, but if you take a look at my shop, you will see a lot of bright crochet items on a perfectly white background.
So, they are sort of the same as the top ones in your shop.

Re: Quick question - are my photos too bright?

That means probably both our screen settings are a bit off, mine too dull and husband's too bright. So now I know I have to compensate a bit.

Big thanks to both of you and good luck. Beautiful shops. BeaG I love your tote bags. And Gina I think your bouquets are just gorgeous, such a great idea too.

P.S. thanks, Sally. I appreciate that.

The 8 on the top 2 rows are AWESOME!

I think you should change all your photos to fit the same style.
Totally can see you doing well with those kinds of quality photos!

Don't forget to make yourself a banner and feature 4 items along the top of your shop!

I dulled the rattle pictures a bit, they might be okay now.

Re: Quick question - are my photos too bright?

Sara your photos are awesome, so warm and soft, I just love them. And also thank you so much. I have really been trying and spending a lot of time trying to learn. And I have a lot to learn, started from basically nothing.

I was planning on taking a lot of photos today but it was raining all day so no luck. Should check the weather forecast more often.

The plan is to use white backgrounds for colorful and small toys and use models and/or softer setups for larger toys.

And I wanted to create myself a banner with my items, need to take good photos first.

Thanks Kristi!
Apparently a lot of people struggle with photos, I am one of them. I was just on here the other day asking for opinions. It's tough, I know exactly how you feel!

Re: Quick question - are my photos too bright?

What photo editing software do you use, Kristi?
In Phothoshop you could use both the Saturation and the Exposure option to tone down colours that turned out a little too bright (while keeping the white background).

Re: Quick question - are my photos too bright?

Thank you so much. I use GIMP.

So I toned down the rattles a bit. They do look a bit weird now but I am not going to start over again. I think my time is best spent on making and adding new items.

And retaking all the photos at the bottom of the shop. I just need to figure out what to do with the white items. But I'm getting there.

Re: Quick question - are my photos too bright?

I used to photograph items that are (partly) white on a natural linen background.
But of course that did not look very well in between the pure white backgrounds in my shop.
I now discovered that I can indeed photograph them on that background and then remove (with the Brush function) the background.
The item is not totally white and its edges are a bit darker and therefore it still stands out from the white background.
Like this candy corn lip balm holder:

Re: Quick question - are my photos too bright?

I like your first three rows on the first page. I think you can judge the brightness with how they look compared to the white of the Etsy background. That might help you judge brightness no matter what computer you're on.

Re: Quick question - are my photos too bright?

Hi they look great, try turning up the brightness on your screen, I had that problem with my pictures thinking that some of them where dull and couldn't get a good photo when I realised it was the laptop screen on power saving mode!

Love your shop too! Xxx
