is writing people, and telling them you like their shop spam? Some people write me and tell me they like my shop, but I don't mind. If anyone has time, message me with any Etsy advice, and I would greatly appreciate it! How to make treasuries, do we have to ask the person first before we display their item in a treasury? What is the best way to sell?

How could someone consider spam a flattery? absolutely not, it's a lovely way to encourage other's work.
About treasuries you can select those items you like best, no need of permission. I don't used to, but some people send a message to the featured shops.
The best way to sell.... if I knew I would have hundreds of sales and had written a book that would also sell
