Questions about "Tweet" button

I just started to use Twitter today, everytime when I click the " tweet" button on my Etsy item page, I will get about 10 more views immediately. Isn't that a mistake?

I tried to read my Google Analytics, and it didn't show that many visits sent via Twitter.

Could anyone clear this for me? Thanks.

Re: Questions about "Tweet" button

You know what? I handnt noticed that... I just tested it with my items and it gives me 5-7 views every time...

I don't think it's a glitch with Etsy, but I'm suspecting that it has to do with the way the widget works, like there's 5 - 10 things that read into the tweet when it's sent , that creates the views... I'm making this up, but I have had experience with other widgets that create views to my page, because of exposure on other websites.. But what is funny is the lack of visits..

Maybe somebody on the Etsy bugs team could answer this..

Ok, I put the question in the bugs forum, and I got The answer:

My suspicion was pretty close!

Re: Questions about "Tweet" button

I got an answer from GalleriaDiGiani:

The initial 10-15 views that come within the first minute or two are "botcrawlers"...they troll the internet, collecting links and information...they were explained to me as being from search engines, gathering information to strengthen searches. They are a good thing, but they are not real people. You will see that happen every time you tweet a listing.

By the way, a general tip about google. Please make sure you tweet a LOT more than just your listings. If all you ever tweet are your listings, you will not get a lot of followers. Your listings need to be a very very small percentage of your overall tweets. If you don't share interesting and fun information, people will have no reason to follow you on twitter.
