Question!

Hi friends,

I'm about to release a line of necklaces and I was wondering:

I'm planning on listing complete necklaces, but should I also create a separate listing for the pendants?

My necklaces are going to be my "big ticket item" of sorts. They are far more expensive than anything I've sold. I like having complete necklaces in my shop, but should I cater to those who want to buy a necklace and then switch out the pendants? Buying the pendants, of course, would save them a good amount of money. But, at the same time I'm worried that I'll have one customer who buys the pendant thinking they are getting a necklace.

What do you all think?

TIA!
Brittany

Re: Question!

In my experience, most people want the whole necklace. Plus, I'm guessing that the chain doesn't add THAT much to the cost of the pendant? Yes?

Re: Question!

actually it might if it's priced correctly. I'm using sterling silver, so there is only a certain threshold I can get to.

Re: Question!

I have a lot of mine listed as just the pendants.
Say in the description that they come with a jump ring only.....but if they want a complete necklace I have an upgrade listing with the silver chain/charm.

So far no one has gotten confused.(suppose it could happen though)

Re: Question!

Perhaps not list the pendants seperately but say in the listing you can offer a discount if buying multiple pendants with one chain? something like 'extra pendants can be bought for $xxx'

Re: Question!

I'm sure you have your pricing figured out for the chains and pendants. You can list the necklaces (chain w/pendant) and then list pendants by themselves so that people can simply buy more pendants and swap them out.

Can't wait to see them!

Re: Question!

(Ahhh Sterling... yes, expensive)

I agree with Chas. Another idea is to create "sets." Say... three pendants, one chain for X price.

Re: Question!

If you are making the items to order you could list a with chain and without chain option for the same pendant.
