Question re: TITLES

Sometimes I 'think' I've finally got a handle on the titles...and then :::kerplunk::: I don't see any improvement in my views. I KNOW that the first three words are the most important. I know that you should repeat those words in your description AND your tags. So BEYOND that...does anyone have any words of wisdom? And the other question: Do you put commas in your titles...because sometimes I see them and sometimes I don't? THANK YOU!!

Re: Question re: TITLES

I would like to know the answer to your questions as well. I thought I had read NOT to repeat words as that would throw google off. I know I read something like that in a thread. However, I use a lot of the same repeat words. As far as commas go, I don't know whether or not they are seen, but I have read to use them instead of periods or dashes. I replaced all my periods with commas so I think you're safe if you use them and that they won't interfere with SEO.

I would love to know the answer to that as well. I find it confusing.

Re: Question re: TITLES

Let's try this again: Commas or no commas? That is the question.

Re: Question re: TITLES

I don't know what the "official" answer should be. I have noticed a significant improvement with my newer, longer, confusing titles.

Re: Question re: TITLES

I'd love to know about commas too!

I use this tool to decide what I should use as the first three words and what words should come later http://www.etsy.com/prototypes/compare. You basically type in your options and it will tell you which one is better (and breaks it down by scarcity, market gap, popularity, etc.). Of course, if you get too specific it can't provide information for you, but it's useful for deciding between ivory wedding veil and lace wedding veil for instance.

Re: Question re: TITLES

Hmmmm, I've never heard of that one, Ariella. I'll be checking it out, for sure. Thank you!

Re: Question re: TITLES

Ariella,

Have you actually had luck with the compare tool?

If so, I must be using the tool wrong. Every time I try using it, I get this message: "Sorry, we don't have enough data on your search(es): ********* Please try more common searches."

I really don't think that my search terms are uncommon. It's annoying, so I stopped trying to use it.

Re: Question re: TITLES

I get that message more often than I'd like, but I've had really good luck with the wedding items. I think it might depend on the category and how specific your search is.
