Question on item quantities - which is better in your opinion?

I just re-opened my shop two weeks ago with a new name and new items. Most of my items are available in multiple quantities. If you go to my shop it looks like I have 9 items (I'm working on increasing that number). However, when you click on my cards, you'll see I have more than one set available.

My question is this. Would it be better for my shop to list those as individual listings or is it fine to keep them set up as they are. If I make them all separate listings, a visitor to my shop would see four of the same snowman gift card holder, four of the same sets of Christmas cards, etc. It might help with search results but would it just cause the average buyer's eyes to glaze over when they look at my shop?

I mainly set it up the way I did to save money on listing fees. I'm already doing pretty good with views considering I've only been open for two weeks and I only have 9 listings. I had 75 views yesterday without doing a whole lot of promoting off-Etsy.

Off topic: How's everyone doing with Hurricane Sandy? All's quiet here in Western Mass. for the moment. It's wet and looks a little breezy here. I haven't turned on the news or been outside yet. Schools are closed so we all slept in a little.

Hi Judy!

I am in s. NH so we are not seeing Sandy yet, but I am hoping I don't lose power for 8 days like last year!!!

So far as your listings, you definitely want to have as many listings as you can as it just gives you more chances to be found, but personally I would avoid listing the same thing more than once if you can. I don't like looking at shops that look like they have 100 items, but really they only have 25 each repeated 4 times. I think you should focus on making up some new and different items and get them listed!!

Good luck!
Rachel

I'm also a card seller. Welcome back!

I have multiple listings for each separate qty number. It helps make the check out process smoother, let customers instantly see any discounts you offer for larger quantities, and also improves your SEO. It does cost more, but I think it is worth it.

Hope this helps!

From a seller POV, it would help with SEO. From a buyer POV, it's not that big of a deal as long as the first pictures are all the same for those listings. It gets annoying when shops have 5 listings that are essentially the same but different first images- I feel like I waste time trying to sift through the matches to get to new items.

Having said that, I have a listing that's very popular and I have LOTS of modeled pictures for it. So I created three listings that are essentially the same but with different pictures. I don't seem to have too much trouble selling it though.
