Question about new shop appearances

I know Etsy is trying out the new shop appearances and asking for our feedback. My question is...why is it that my shop is in the new format when I'm logged in to my husband's computer, but on my laptop it's still the old format for me? I'd like to explore a bit the new format so that I can formulate an opinion on all the changes, but it's impossible for me to work on my husband's computer. Can anyone explain this to me? If I need to be posting this somewhere else, please let me know. Thank you!

From what I understand - and I warn you I don't really understand it all, different browsers can show different results... Chrome might have you in one test and Firefox in another test format or none at all.
It's not the shop that's in the test, it's the user. A user will see all the shops they visit in the test. (I think)
Clearing your cache might change what test format you're in or take you out of test mode completely.
Is the laptop using a different browser?

Hi,

I like the larger pictures in my shop but each one has a heart at the top to fave like the treasuries.

I do not like that because people just click on those to fave and are not encouraged to click on the picture to see the largest picture of the item with detail and the descriptions which encourage people to might want to buy the item!

Etsy always cuts off the best part of pictures like focals which tend to hang down near the bottom more no matter how you take the pictures! Or the sides so the items are not shown well.

Any comments on this?

I am the same different browser different format. NOt sure but it allows me to compare a little.
One part that I am not sure about is how to choose which image feature each section in the new format?

Pam did you try crop 8x10 your images see if suits better?Not sure?

I had the same question Marcie. At work, I see it the old way. When I first discovered this I was SO HAPPY! I thought things had gone back, but then I came home to my laptop and there was the horrible trial. But, in this instance, the browsers are different. I am going to clear my cache right now. Thanks!

If you're using same browser (eg. Chrome) in different computers, you might still see different formats. (:
Clearing the cache does change the format that you see, but yeah, mine changed to something worse and now I think I need to clear it again.

Pam, they say don't rearrange or crop your images to suit the new formats because it's not seen by everyone and also the formats might not stick around. Because they are still in test stages. I wouldn't worry too much about it myself. (:

Sandrine, the latest listing in each section gets the feature.

Hi All!
Figured it out. Switched browsers and it works. I'm very on the fence with the new changes. Especially what I'm seeing today. NOT liking the fact that not all of my items are showing on the first page. The shop by category thing doesn't impress me at all. I'll definitely respond to the survey and hope that Etsy is listening to us!

I see two different formats on two computers, not for my shop, but for Etsy's overall layout, interestingly enough... Using the same browser (Chrome) though.

Thanks for the feedback Sandrine. I don't use the little crop feature at the top because it makes the pics worse.

I don't know how to fix the pics. Once they are sent from my computer Etsy cuts them off. Even the new format.

I was wondering what people think of this new heart on the new larger pics which people click on to fave but don't go in and view your items and descriptions.

Can anyone comment on this?

Hi Pam,
Honestly, I'm not bothered by the new heart on the pictures. I think, if someone wants to really buy your item, they will go into your listings and read the details and view more pictures, etc. But if they are just window shopping, being able to favourite the items easily makes it better. I honestly don't think it effects the sales. That's just my opinion anyway! :D
