Question about facebook page

Ok I did a facebook page. Why do some of you call it a fan page? How do people find it? Not sure I did it right.

You can send invites (or something like that) to your FB friends, that is a good way to get started. Do it from your FB page. I have had people find it & like it that I have no idea how they did. Sometimes they see it on my friend's pages. I also put it on my card, and my Etsy shop page, too - of course! Oh, and I put it in my shop announcement. Hope that helps!

I'm trying to figure this out too. Do sellers have 2 pages, one for others to "like" and one that allows you to "like" others? My business page does not allow me to "like" others. I can't even search for others; there is no search bar. Maybe we can figure this out together.

So strange, I had only 3 Facebook "Likes" for my shop...they were there for a while, then all of a sudden today, I noticed I had zero. ;-( In one day, 3 people unliked my store? I know it's not a huge deal, but it's a bummer.

Does anyone want to trade?? I will FB like your shop...i don't have an FB Etsy page though, just a normal one.

I have a Facebook page and it took me a while to work out how to use it.

Facebook has been going though and deleting 'inactive' accounts, although they don't specify what that means there is a lot of discussion on Facebook at the moment about this.

As for liking pages, I have my personal Facebook page and my business page. It took me awhile to work it out but you need to link the two pages to be able to use everything. You can only like pages using your business page after a personal page is connected to it. You then have a drop down menu in the top right had corner which allows you to swap from your personal page to business page and back. You can then like and comment away.

I have then connected my Etsy shop to Facebook using one of the Apps in the Etsy store. Here is my link if you want to go and have a look.

First, link your FB page to your Etsy shop. You do this by going to My Shop>Info and Appearance>and you'll see a spot to get connected to facebook.
Once you do that, there will be a "Like" box on your shop page so people can like your facebook! Fan page, business page, I think it's all the same.
Sellers have 2 pages. How it works is you have your personal Facebook, that shows your favorite music, etc. From your personal page, you create your business page, which is set up slightly different. When you "Like" something, your PERSONAL page is the one that Likes it.
When you sign in to facebook, on the left side (where it shows your apps and the groups you're in) it will also show your "pages" which includes your Business Page.

When you go on your business page, you can post an announcement/comment/picture, and it will show up as your business (with its very own picture and name) rather than as if YOU personally made a comment.

Ummm.... I think I'm just rambling here.... does anything make sense? haha

Oh also, if your own personal friend posts a funny/inspiring picture or status update, and you want to SHARE it, you have the choice to share it as YOURSELF (which goes on your timeline) or share it onto your business page (which shows up as your business posting it)... it took me a while to learn how to share something onto my shop's page

And then, to gain more Likes, you can join the Etsians of Facebook team (and other promotion teams) and post the link to your page. The members of the Etsians of Facebook team are very good about liking you and asking for a Like in return.
And I forgot. When you Like and comment on things, it defaults to your personal self, and at the arrow on the top-right, you can "Use Facebook as _____(shop)"

Debsla Thanks got that down. Now I have to get it on my etsy store. How did you put children things in upper left corner. Mine wont let me enter anything even when I save it.

I mean what Debsla said on the first page, about how you can switch back and forth from liking as "you" versus liking as "your shop." On facebook, there is a down-arrow on the top, next to "Home", and that's where you go to switch back and forth. For me, it says "Use Facebook As: Worldpeac"

Sorry for the delay in being back here. Do you mean the pictures of the children along the top on Facebook? That is a cover picture I produced from pictures of different products. You just upload a cover picture of what ever you want. Or did I misread that post?

Pat, I just copy/pasted the link from my FB page into my shop announcement. It doesn't have a "blue" link, but if someone is interested they can cut/paste. You can only link (blue, clickable link) to inside Etsy. Hope that makes sense.

You can like a FB page from your personal page and from your business page. However, my understanding is that the only one that shows up in your Like count is the ones done from a personal page. So, what I do is like someone's FB page from both of my accounts. That way, they get the count, and they know about my FB business page. Make sense? Hope so! :)

Yes, they're the same thing. You get the URL by copying and pasting from that thing at the top of your browser where you'd normally type in "etsy.com" to get here, while you're looking at the fan page. At first, it'll be nonsense numbers, but after you get 25 likes, you can make it human-readable.

You can like other pages from either your personal page or from your business page. See that bit at the top right about "use as <Name> or use as <Business>" (next to the picture of you in the blue bar)? Choose the business out of there, then go ahead and like things as the business. Businesses cannot join groups though.
