Question about VAT

Hello Everyone - So glad to be a member of this team! I have a question regarding taxes for countries in Europe. If you sell to European customers, do you need to figure in the tax for each country? Do sellers who live in the United States need to do that? Is that just for sellers who live in Europe? - Thank you ahead of time for your help.

Re: Question about VAT

I put in my policies that the customer is responsible for all VAT fees and country fees. I believe they must pay these when the package is delivered to them.
Hope that helps:)

Re: Question about VAT

ggdbole, its not your responsibility to pay any taxes for the buyer.

However, you are responsible for collecting the sales tax for all sales made within the state of New York and remitting that tax to the state.

Its up to the customer where ever they are located to pay their own sales taxes on the goods they import.

And its not just the EU countries that have taxes imposed on imported goods, its just that their thresholds are much lower than most other countries. USA also has import taxes if you are bringing in goods from abroad as well and you as the customer would be responsible for paying those fees.
