Question Regarding Leaving Reviews

When I leave a review, it's sooo easy for the stars to reverse (luckily I catch it before filing the review); therefore, customers could leave a bad review without realizing it. I know when I've been shopping on Etsy, I look at the star rating of sellers, however, I do check the reviews first before making a decision regarding that seller. But I have seen plenty of oohs and aahs over a product but yet the stars don't reflect this. Has anyone addressed this in the past? Thank you!

Many customers consider 3 or 4 stars a good rating (which I don't understand) and often leave an awesome review with 3 stars...

I guess they just don't fully understand how much 5 stars mean for sellers.

That said, I am not sure that random customers even look at reviews when buying because I have seen many shops with low star rating with hundreds and hundreds of sales.

I think only Etsy veterans and sellers look at the reviews so i don't worry about it too much :)

In my shipping notice, and the instructions included with my orders, I tell customers "I hope you will give me a 5 star review if you are happy with your order. Please contact me within 3 days if you are not satisfied... " I think people will leave a 5 star review if they like it and they know you've put your heart in it. A note to let them know you appreciate their business and their time to review lets them know you care about your shop and want to be professional about it.
As a buyer, I do check reviews if I'm buying supplies, or if two items are similar. Customer service and quick shipping are so important for running a professional shop. I think that ebay has made it so people should be more aware that if you are happy, it should be 100%, so our 5 star is equivalent.
