Pros and cons of Google Product Search Syndication

Wondering why I would or wouldn't want to do this. Or where to find out more info.

I can't begin to think of a reason why you wouldn't want to be syndicated. Syndication will bring you more traffic.

Syndication happens automatically here to shops that Etsy/Google select.

If your shop becomes syndicated (all will be eventually), you will have the option of turning it off but the only reason to do that would be if there was another venue where you list the same items and the items are uploaded to Google Merchant on that other venue.

Not sure there are any cons, but it's not that big of a deal. . .not too many people use it. . .

SilverSmack--I disagree with that. While a lot less people use Google Shopping than use Google's regular search, it can be a lot of additional views plus Google now often presents three items from Google Merchant with an image on the first page or its regular search results, items that might not have come up until 10 pages later otherwise.

During 2009 when we were still able to upload our own goods, between my 2 etsy shops I got items viewed in tens of thousands of google shopping search results according to the stats.

My items themselves might not have been viewed by those shoppers if they were returned in regular google as regular google doesn't return images in the search results so if the person didn't click a search result all they saw was the text, but the images were presented to all those shoppers in Google Shopping.
