How do I add just a single "favorite" item to my activities feed? Not the string of four that usually comes up, but one single, beautiful item. There must be a simple trick to it that I don't know.

If you are talking about Featured items from your shop then you have control of what to feature (make sure that only one item is "starred" by you).
But I don't think it is possible in your Favorite items from other shops, unless you "unheart" everything but one item.

On my activities feed, it shows other people featuring only a single item from some other shop. Occasionally, I have an item from someone else's shop that I want to help them showcase, but I don't know how do get just that one item.

Is it possible it shows up on my feed as a line of 4 items but only one item on their feed?

it is possible but either way I don't think there is any way to control how it shows up.

You are not talking about featuring. You are talking about favoriting. And the problem comes in when you favorite the shop, not the item. Just click the heart in the corner of the item and only that item will show up in the feed.

Personally, and I know we had this convo yesterday, I don't really pay that much attention to what people in my circle are favoriting. Occasionally I will run across something that someone favorited that I absolutely love, but it's rare. Besides that, my circle is 850+, and I only get 5 or 6 views daily on average from the activity feed, so I really don't think you are "showcasing" as much as you think you are, or promoting for that matter (promoting is what you do in treasuries, in teams, on facebook, on twitter, on your blog, etc). You'd be better off, and more helpful, to put items you like or want to "showcase" in a treasury. Just my opinion.

Thanks, Megan. I get what you're saying. I make 3-4 treasuries a week and because I belong to some good teams, they pull in good views for the folks featured in them. At least, they generally do. So I agree it's one good way to feature other folks.

I'm trying several different strategies to see what does and doesn't work for other people. Now I know with you, for example, that you wouldn't want to be put on the feed. Got it. You'd rather be in a treasury. When that's a fit, I'd be happy to do it.

Today I got a convo from someone I favorited (there ha to be a better word) yesterday by promoting her whole first page. Her views tripled, and she had 2 sales from it.

As a result of all this discussion, I'm keeping a short list of people who're happy with being promoted on the feed and others who prefer treasuries.

I LOVE when people favorite or treasure my items or promote my items in anyway. And I do look at my feed every now and then and favorite some of the items being favorited by my circle. But I know I miss a lot of them, they go by way to fast for me to really add that many.

Same with me, Bill. I wish they didn't go by so fast. I can hardly keep up with them, and some have disappeared before I can favorite them. But I do love it whenever someone favors my work in any way, and am really grateful.

However, I've learned some folks prefer one way of being favored to another. If I can, I'd like to do it the way they prefer. Can't always, but can try.
