Promoting in threads?

Does anyone thing promoting new listings in team threads is worth any of their time? I always do, and I think I usually get one view from it. Anyone had success with this form of promotion? And if not, then why do so many people do it?

Re: Promoting in threads?

I wondered for a little while if promotion threads helped. I can say, it does make a difference. I was able to get 80-100 views per day while actively promoting my items. I took a break for a little while to focus on getting a new camera. When not posting, I'm lucky to get 8 or 10 per day!

It depends on what you call success, I guess. :) Usually, if I participate in those threads, I get many views and favorites. But most of those views are not from the people who are actually looking to buy anything, they are from the other supportive sellers, whose main objective is to promote and sell their own. I still do it mostly for fun and those favorites, as I believe, many others do.

Re: Promoting in threads?

It depends - a lot of promotional teams are drop & run. I've found promo threads do bring more views/favorites, but they don't convert to sales because it's not targeting the right market! Agreed with Alta - I don't have high expectations of those threads and do it for fun. If there's a chance that someone will view or heart my item, then that's great :)
