Promoted Posts on FB?

Have any of you ever tried using Promoted posts on FB to drive traffic to your Etsy site?

I just paid for one, just curious as to what your experiences have been!

Re: Promoted Posts on FB?

I haven't tried it. I don't really plan to, the thought of giving them my C.C. number makes me shudder. I know what they think of my privacy, lol. Let me know if it works for you though. I'd like to hear.

Re: Promoted Posts on FB?

I am afraid to start doing the ad campaign with pay by click so I just did 1 promoted post. It was $7 for one, so if it doesn't work it'll be another $7 down the drain... much like all the times I paid for showcase features and search ads on this site!

I will let you know how it works for me though :)

Re: Promoted Posts on FB?

I did the ad campaign on FB. It worked great, got us about 10 new leads a day for a week. With a daily budget set at $8. It bumped us over the 100 likes mark, but I can't say that that has generated any sales for us. If anything, it has made us look a little more legit to others who drop by our page. It's unfortunate that now, if I want to push a post for all of our likes to see I will have to pay for it.

Re: Promoted Posts on FB?

I did the promoted posts a few times -- mostly when I have a sale or something going on. It both drove engagement with my existing fans, and garnered me more fans. Some of which have driven purchases. I have done it for very little amounts -- or even for larger amounts. Usually I will promote one post based on "friends of friends" as well as key into "jewelry" or "shopping" or "fashion accessories" which drives the amount of people who see the add way up.

I have had better luck with pay per impression rather than pay per click on most -- but I make sure the photo part of the ad is really, really good.

Re: Promoted Posts on FB?

Hate to say it, but I won't do it because I hate getting them in *my* news feed. I look at it as spam in my news feed and always hide the promoted post, then click the link that says "don't show anymore from _____." I know it sounds harsh, but my news feed is for the stuff that I choose to see, not ads.

Re: Promoted Posts on FB?

I'm running one now :o)

They work but you've got to time them right and, when they slow down, stop them. Evenings during the week work best for me. And all of the photos on my page have a link to the shop directly below them.

I hear you, Judy. Some people have chosen to unlike the page. I try not to bombard folks with my stuff every minute of every day. I know I've certainly blocked people who do it. But I think that moderation and and variety keep people from getting super sick of a page that they've liked.

Re: Promoted Posts on FB?

I did one last week to let everyone know my custom order cut off date was coming up. Huge, success. So many orders and requests that I am 10 days out on custom orders now. Over a 100 new likes on my page.

Re: Promoted Posts on FB?

I have used both ad campaigns and promoted posts. I might do a campaign for something like $10 for a day and then shut it off. I can get anywhere from 25 to 40 new fans doing that. I do that like once a month.

The promoted posts...they might happen every other week and I'm careful on how I use it. I just finished a drawing and did a $10.00 post promotion on the photo. My insights said almost 15,000 people saw that photo because I target fans and friends of fans, I got 10 new fans out of it, and a lot of fan interaction.Without post promotion...maybe 200 people might see a post.

I did get some sales this week on here...are they related?? I don't know...but I do promote my etsy listings on my FB page.

I think used wisely...ads and post promotions are a smart thing to do.

Re: Promoted Posts on FB?

As for not paying for them because you hate to see them on your page, thats the ongoing marketing/consumer conundrum. As a consumer of facebook would you rather pay a subscription to be on facebook? Or, let the advertisers stay on there and pay to support it for you? Just like radio....hate the commercials then you pay for a subscription service like XM, or deal with commercials so you can continue to listen free.
