Promote Your Items to Thousands of Pinners with Stroewoot! (",)

Hi guys,

I've had great success and loads of new traffic as a result of signing up with Storewoot about a week ago. Where I was struggling to get eyes on my products, now I've got a few hundred views a day and growing.

Here's how it works...

When you promote a product via their site, StoreWoot posts it on their Pinterest creates a pin on their Pinterest account. This pin (linked to your Etsy product) is then promoted by their network of 51,000+ Pinterest users. Once this pin starts getting repins, your store starts getting quality traffic from Pinterest.

The awesome part is that it's free to sign up!

So, you got more views.
Are they the right views? Do they bring you sales?

Thanks Thandie! I'll try that because I need some traffic asap. The more people look into your shop, more chances to make a sale.

Not necessarily.
You want to aim your promoting efforts towards your target market.

I'm not convinced anymore that kind of promotion works. It feels to me like.... 'I'm just dumping my stuff here or tossing them here, there, everywhere'. If it works for you, that's great.

I find it tiring and very time consuming when I could be doing other, more productive things. I've had 0 sales on days with large number of views and sales on days with very, very low views.

Minerva, I agree.
And most sellers experience more sales on days with low views.
That's because marketing is all about building up meaningful relationships with your target customers, who might return later to purchase from your shop, rather than just scoring heaps of artificial views and aiming for instant sales from random people.

Hi Thandie,

I signed up a month ago and did the free promo, but haven't paid to promote yet. I've seen traffic from Pinterest though it could be from my own pins.

BeaG, those are very good points about whether views are coming from one's target market. I've been watching the StoreWoot repins and they're almost all boards for "gift ideas" and "things I want to buy". That's the only indication for me that Storewoot might be worth it.

Question for everyone: Is there a way to tell if a sale actually comes from another traffic source? I know I can see if promoted listings on Etsy are generating sales, but haven't been able to find if we're able to see the same for traffic coming from outside Etsy.

Yeah, I tried this site, and I failed.

To really have a great successful social media campaign, you have to cultivate your social media site to get active followers.

I used to get a couple of views come from pintrest, but not so much any more. But now that I've been regularly posting to twitter (and not just spamming them with products), I've gained a ton more followers, and my "direct views" have gone up as well. Just some food for thought.

Just dumping and running doesn't really help.

I agree, Nikki. It's better to really dive into one or a few social media channels rather than try to sporadically hit them all. I'm enjoying Instagram and that's where I put most of my effort. It's also the one that's created known sales results . I'm also working on streamling/focusing my Pinterest because I'm seeing pinning to relevant boards (i.e. "gift ideas" or "things I want to buy") and view from pinners. not sure if I've had sales as a result though.

I think working with whichever social media you truly enjoy is key, too. I'm hardly ever on Facebook anymore for personal use and no longer have a biz page there. I find I like the more pared down and highly visual ones and that's what I work on.

Those sites always make me think of the promo threads all over Etsy. You put your item up and no one ever looks at it. I've had better luck running promoted ads here on Etsy. Three sales through those just last month, and I can customize the bid so it's only $.10 a click.

Yeah, you have more success driving your own social media campaign than dumping and running on social media.

I personally am on a few social media outlets: twitter, instagram, pintrest, fb, and raverly. I mainly use twitter and instagram since that's where i had most success when I started using it consistently. FB is the worst unless if your willing to pay for it.

The only place I "dump" my items is Raverly, and it has paid off. I have received several sales from that site. I find it interesting that I have had more success there than on Pintrest. I know that Pintrest is for the DIY-ers, and is filled to the brim with knitting/crocheting patterns. I have only gotten moderate views from there, but no sales. I figured my target market is not Pintrest, so I no longer choose to spend my time there, even to "dump" my listings there.

Thanks for the tips ladies! I am just getting started on Instagram and have been a big fan of Pinterest since it started. I also try to cultivate followers with posts other than my items, and try to dazzle them with my (ahem) "scintillating personality and fascinating and exciting personal life". I think I saw that on Youtube once. :)
