Profile vs. About page...any thoughts???

So how do you find a balance between your Profile and the new About page? I understand the idea behind the About page--the ability to tell your story and process with photos, etc...it's great. I'm just not sure where that leaves my Profile page. Do I take info from (or off) my profile and plug it into my About page instead (keep my profile very basic?)?

Any suggestions from those of you who published your About pages already? I've seen so many great ones out there!

Thanks in advance! :-)

Re: Profile vs. About page...any thoughts???

Ashley, it doesn't go at the top of your shop, but it does show your featured listings at the bottom. When someone goes to your shop, they still see the shop they way they always have. They have to click on the About tab at the side to see the about shop feature.

Sarah, for now, why not include the same information (or at least similar information) in both places? Most shoppers aren't going to know the about feature is even there, so they'll learn about you from your profile. And if they do know about the about feature, they'll get a chance to see photos along with your information.

I agree with Adyan. Include similar info in both places because the about page is pretty hidden. Many folks won't even know about the about section. I think the pictures are a really nice thought though. I have to get around to adding some pics to my about. Kind of in the process of moving though.

I think I need to adjust mine as well, but the way I see it is:

Profile: about me
About: the story behind the shop

I have a feeling I will be tweaking these both multiple times :)

Amanda, I too have been wondering about the Profile vs. About Page...perhaps I will keep them very similar for now...

Re: Profile vs. About page...any thoughts???

Thanks for the tips, all! That's what I was thinking too. Good to hear the feedback. I'm sure I'll be tweaking my page often. I put some of my previous profile info in my about page, minimized my profile, and added a link on my profile to my new about page (since I'm sure many may overlook the button on our shop pages for a while). I need to capture my process in photos and text now...

Re: Profile vs. About page...any thoughts???

I used some stuff from my profile and added the about page as a link on my profile page to direct people there. I dont think customers are going to use the about button that is hidden . I have been wondering if the page is for other buyers to get to know us.

I have been wondering this also. I left my profile as it was though.

Re: Profile vs. About page...any thoughts???

I erased my profile and only put a link to my about page and my shop... I do think that having both is a little redundant.
