Problems getting feedback

So I have 6 sales, I've got emails from my buyers saying they're happy, but nobody has left any feedback yet. One issue is that some of my sales are to people brand new to Etsy. But still...I didn't even get feedback from someone I bought from.

Would it make sense to send an email thanking my buyers, offering a coupon on a future sale, and gently asking for feedback?

Or, any other ideas?

Re: Problems getting feedback

I know it's tough when a satisfied customer convos you and tells you how great the thing you made is and doesn't leave feedback. I wouldn't waste time worrying about it. A lot of people just don't bother to do it.

Re: Problems getting feedback

Even at my present store, for the sales & buys that I have had, my feedback number should probably be double what it actually is.

It's frustrating, but maybe with time some people will think to come back and leave feedback still. The good thing is that they do have months to do it. It's happened to me a few times...

Re: Problems getting feedback

I've had this problem too.
I ended up writing to them and politely requesting that they leave feedback, and explaining why I need it.

I also thought about making some really low priced things and asking Etsy friends and contacts to buy them and leave feedback, but I haven't done this.

You might post their "satisfied customer" comments in a spot on your blog, and put a link to that in your Etsy profile page, so potential Etsy buyers have an opportunity to read that feedback.

Re: Problems getting feedback

I have had this problem as well. While I love their sweet convos... I'd rather they would leave it in a public spot so that other potential shoppers could see it. I have avoided asking them to leave feedback as I don't want to be annoying and scare off repeat business. I think that a customer that already shops with you and loves your work is likely a better bet to keep than asking them to do something they don't want to do and risking alienating them.

Re: Problems getting feedback

I wouln't send them an e-mail! The feedback will come in time! I know it's hard to be patient! It's part of doing business! It also reminds us how important feedback is for others!

Re: Problems getting feedback

I never ever request feed back from a buyer BUT if they have convoed and emailed me to tell me how much they love the item, I always say how glad I am that they are enjoying it and thank them for their feedback.... THEN I say something like "If you would like, feel free to share this info thru the Etsy feedback system too so that future buyers may see it" and then I explain to them how to leave feedback because many do not know how... many do not even know they CAN leave feedback
Hope that helps :)

Re: Problems getting feedback

I have to say that's a great idea explaining to a buyer how to do feedback because I"m a new seller and it took me a while to figure out how to give feedback too.

Re: Problems getting feedback

You need to have patience. Some people leave feedback later. I think they have 90 days to do it. Your shop is new, you have a few sales. Your feedback will come. I would never ask for it. If you offend someone by doing this you might not like the feedback you get. I would not let someones lack of feedback stop me from buying from them. With that said. When they have negative feedback I always read it before I purchase to see what the problem was. Rejoice in the fact that they bought your product , they let you know they liked it and they are enjoying it.

Re: Problems getting feedback

Me too, I've had 60 sales, but only 34 feedback :( They've all convo'd stating they loved the product, but they just don't leave feedback. One lady even came back and bought and referred a few friends. She finally left feedback for everything after her 2nd purchase :) It's unfortunate they don't leave feedback, but at least you as the seller know they're happy customers.

Re: Problems getting feedback

Thank you all for your great suggestions. I think I'll leave it alone for now and see what happens. It's good to hear I'm not alone, though!

Re: Problems getting feedback

I didn't know people got so little feedback. I've only had one person not give me feedback, and maybe she's unsure how. Actually, when I first put things up my dad bought something (hee, hee), but he had no idea you left feedback on here, and I ended up asking if he would.

I like Justweddingbouquets's idea to ask them to leave feedback through Etsy. If they say no or they don't want to, just drop it, though. Even if half of your buyers leave you good feedback, it's still good feedback, you know?

Also, I sometimes don't leave feedback right away, if it's jewellery or something else I wear, I want to make sure it doesn't break or anything.

And, as a buyer, you leave feedback first. But, as far as I know, there is no way to know if you've gotten feedback, except to check. Maybe if you send a message saying you got your item, they will check to see if they have feedback, and then leave you some in return.

Re: Problems getting feedback

I always write something like "thank you for your order...we look forward to your feedback on Etsy" on the customer notes.

At one time I had something like 20 sales and purchases and only 2 feedbacks. I did send a note that said something like:

Hello, you recently purchased photos from AlphaDogPhoto. We hope you love your items. If so, please make sure to leave us feedback the next time you're on Etsy. If there is a problem, please let us know so we can make it right.

I woke up the next day to 13 new feedbacks!

What bums me out is when the people you buy from don't even leave a feedback. It should be mandatory.

Re: Problems getting feedback

I send a little note with every shipped item, on nice notepaper, thanking them for their purchase and asking them to please remember to log in to Etsy and leave feedback. I use that wording because sometimes people go to Etsy and can't see where to leave feedback because they aren't logged in. It seems to work for me most of the time.

Re: Problems getting feedback

I've had the same problem. I received convos and emails about how much they enjoyed my jewelry, but no feedback. I'm just grateful to know that they liked their purchases. Hopefully, feedback will come in time.

Re: Problems getting feedback

Well, it is not really problem. there are almost 50% of buyers who never leave feedback. But of course, You can try to left a notice in every parcel, that every feedback are welcome,it is all You can do.

More great responses, thanks. I'm leaning towards doing as AlphaDogPhoto suggests.
