Print or art, what would you call it?

I'm having a tough time deciding what customers would call my work for tag purposes. They are all framed prints but they would also be considered framed art. I'm trying both tags in my descriptions but not sure which way to go. Opinions please.

I'd go both ways, there's no need to pick one. call it framed print in one place, framed art in another. used both in the title and tags

Yeah, everyone else here calls prints "art". I don't necessarily like it, I like buying original art and wading through the prints makes it darn near impossible. but, you know, when in rome.

Spacefern- I know what you mean about mixing it up. I have had people refer to my original art as a print!

So Michael, mix it up! Use different phrases for titles and tags and see how it goes. Remember also not always to include the work framed. Use key phrases such as "art print", "wall art", and so on aswell. Good luck!

spacefem: When you list a print it goes under the "art" category, then automatically the tag "art" is added to the piece, there's really no way around it ;)

Michael: Love your work! I would use both tags, keep an eye on them and see which one gets better hits in searches on your shop stats :)

I had the same problem. I look at it this way though... My photography is the art, and the prints are just the evidence of that. I like that everyone can have a copy of whatever piece they want - not just one person. It kinda feels cheap calling them prints when there is so much effort and emotional output put into them, but that is a personal thing for me as a photographer. But then, that's what Etsy is about - sharing those stories with the handmade item. Hmm..

Both. I would tag them as both wait a couple of weeks. Check your shop stats and see what key words are bringing in folks and edit from their. I try to let the data decide!
