Pricing - will you check out my shadow boxes ?

Just read an article on pricing and it was very, very informative.

I've been selling my shadow boxes for either $50 or $60 but after reading that article, I should be selling them for at least $75? Can you give me your honest input.

seashell, i'll check your prices in a minute. I, too, just read the exercises for this weeks challenge. Veeery interesting. I found Exercise #3 (number cruncher) to be an eyeopener. My goals were way too low. After I check out seashell's prices, i'm going to do the extra credit exercise.

It was a very good article -- makes you think about what exactly you want to make annually! Thank you for taking time out to check my prices. I am curious to see what you have to say!

Re: Pricing - will you check out my shadow boxes ?

seashell, I think you have a lovely and very saleable product. The prices on your items that have seashell frames are at $70. There's a lot of work, glue, and time involved in creating those. They should probably be priced higher. The ones with fewer shells, glue, hours, priced about right. The more your raw materials cost and the length of time spent creating the item ought to determine the cost of the final product.

I noticed that some of your pictures look a wee bit darkish. I would like to see close-ups of the ones you've shot on the mantle piece. (and don't let Danielle catch you showing only 2 pics of an item!!) If you have a photo editing program, lighten your pictures up a bit. i.e. the picture of the beehive shells is perfect. Did you do that outdoors? In the pic of the three shadowboxes on the mantle, you can see how much darker that is compared to the pic next to it.

I think your shop is off to a good start with the number of sales you've had this far. Your average is about 4 sales per mo. or 1 per wk. Of course that's just the beginning. It's a geometric progression from here on out. I wish you much success on etsy.

Re: Pricing - will you check out my shadow boxes ?

Sammysgrammy: THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO REVIEW MY STORE AND ITEMS. (My sales were to my mom and sister-in-law. I have not sold to anyone outside my family yet.) I took all my pictures inside -- the second set of pictures are darker as they show the shells better. I will use Photoshop again to lighten them up some. I will also take more pictures again -- just took the mantle pics this morning. Thanks again!!
