Prices too high?

Hi all,

I have lots of views and people adding items as favorites but have only had one sale.

I'm going to re-do my photos, which I know need brightening but I'm wondering - are my prices too high?

My cards are priced slightly lower than other cards I saw, because I feel they are more simple then others. But the gift tags are difficult to price because I don't feel - or haven't been able to find - very similar tags to compare my prices too.

Thanks!!

Re: Prices too high?

Maybe its your photos - they seem quite dark.

Check out your competitors who are doing well and see what sort of things they are doing to sell lots.

I realize your tags are nice - but a dollar plus per tag is a bit steep for me.
Is there anyway you can reduce your costs so they aren't so expensive? Maybe jazz up the photo - or display it in some amazing packaging - show us WHY they are worth $6

Re: Prices too high?

I glanced through your shop and you have some cute items but I noticed every picture of your tags looked exactly the same. I would try staging them differently, ie: attached to a package, hung on a bottle, displayed with a card. Then vary your thumbnail shot. I know you said you are redoing your pics so these are just some tips to help. :)

Re: Prices too high?

I just looked quick and not that I have experience but your shipping prices to "Everywhere else" is kinda high. For 1 card $5? I'm in Canada and if you were to mail a card from here to the states it would cost me a dollar max.

Re: Prices too high?

I don't mind the prices of your cards. Your tags seem a bit high for me (but I have been told we are not selling to ourselves but for people who actually have money to spend, ha!) Just a quick look through your titles brought some issues though. If I were looking for an octopus card I wouldn't search for 'spash' and not 'splash on side'. Think of how a buyer would search for your items and make those your most important words.

Re: Prices too high?

As for your tag titles...

This of it this way, will someone search:

"5 Pink & Blue"
"8 Lime Green"
"5 Mixed Green"

Most likely NO. But would be searched is GIFT TAGS, HANG TAGS, ROUND TAG, HOLIDAY GIFT TAG, BLANK TAG, WEDDING GIFT TAG, CHRISTMAS GIFT TAG.

Try using these for the first 3 words of your titles. Use a different one for each set of tags, this way you get found in multiple searches.

Shipping - I agree with the other user who posted that the Everywhere Else shipping option is very high for something that would be quite light. Even the US shipping is high - what if I want to buy 5 listings? That's $6.50 !!

TAGS - Your tags are no good, your not benefiting from the ones you are using. Use those phrases I told you above, Christmas Gift Tag, Holiday Tag, Birthday Gift tag, ....etc - THOSE are the words people are searching for.

Re: Prices too high?

I think they may be just a tad too high but only you know the work that goes into creating them so I may be off on that.

In regards to your shipping - if you are shipping in non-bendable envelopes (which I do) then a 3 oz package, which it could well be, could be that expensive. Or it will be as of Jan 27th when a 3 oz. package to Canada will cost over 6.00 to mail.

You can check the charts floating around to help you with that but I would focus mostly on your titles and tags at the moment and really sit down, figure out your supply costs, how many tags could you make in an hour, and figure out costs plus hourly wage and see where you fall for price.

Re: Prices too high?

I just paid $2.00 to mail one card to South Korea - that didn't include the cost of me buying the envelope to mail it in, tissue paper that I wrapped the card in, or the cardboard peice I put it to make sure it didn't bend. Perhaps I should have one shipping price for USA, one price for Canada and Mexico and one price for all other places?

Re: Prices too high?

I think your tags and cards are cute but I think you might be better off with a picture of the tags in use... bright clean photos of a packaged gift with your tag attached. Also show a picture of the back of the tag as well. With your cards (at least the couple that I looked at) the title needs to have "card" in the first three words as those are the most important for the search. The description was lacking... how big is the card? Does it come with an envelope, etc

I agree that your shipping prices are a tad high (especially for places like Canada and not overseas). Source out your shipping supplies... ridgid mailers in a slightly bigger sizes than you cards to ensure the corners don't get bent and self sealing cellophane bags are fairly inexpensive. It is an investment and will cost a bit of money up front but it's worth it to have these things on hand and buying them in bulk can save huge money. There should be no need to for tissue paper or cardboard (which adds extra weight) if the proper shipping materials are used.

When writing tags for your product think like a buyer... if you were shopping for your product what would you search for?

You might also wish to offer your cards as a set and offer more value to your customer... one card is $5 but 5 cards are $20...

Re: Prices too high?

These are cute cards and tags. What about including measurements for the folding cards and to shoot them in pictures that show their size in relation to other items? You might also include a little bit about what kind of papers you use or the cardstock weight so that shoppers get a sense of the quality of your products--the stuff they can't feel in a photo but that they would notice right away if they held one of your cards or tags.

Re: Prices too high?

I agree that it is probably the photos more than the prices. The card prices seem fine. If you lower the prices of the tags, I would only lower them like 50 cents. I agree that if you stage the products a little better and have clearer photos and dimensions, then that might help. The tags suggestions are also really good ones!

They are cute items! Good luck.

Re: Prices too high?

I could picture my in-laws paying your prices no problem, and my mom calling them expensive. However, my in-laws would actually shop in a craft store or on etsy and buy something like that, my mother would find less fancy tags at a flea market for cents or a dollar.

So I think your prices are fine, you just need to work on your photos like the other sellers have suggested so that they appeal to the people who will pay,

Re: Prices too high?

I agree with Katherine that the prices are fine but pics of the tags in use would help a lot. I know I'm more likely to buy when I see something in action because then I can totally see myself using it!

The tags are really cute, by the way :-)

Re: Prices too high?

thank you, all!

i'll keep working on the photos and wrap some gifts to photograph the tags on.

i guess i'll keep my shipping prices as is and my product prices too.
once i re-do my photos, if i'm still not having any luck, guess i'll try lower my prices!

Re: Prices too high?

I think your cards and tags are cute, but I was curious about measurements. Maybe you could describe the thickness and measurement of the card in your description. You could also have a picture of them propped up and leaning on something or just set in a way that you can compare the size more easily. Such as propping them up on the center of a table, next to a present or candle, just something to visualize the size a little better and to get a glimpse of inside, even if they're blank.
