Postage increase questions

Is everyone increasing prices? It seems it's not much a change for us in the US but international.

A personal postage question: If I were to pay for international postage for an order today (current rates) that will ship out on Monday (day of increase) will it be accepted?

Thanks!

Re: Postage increase questions

I agree, not much change in domestic rates; I left them as-is but increased ALL of my international rates today because i do mostly custom orders so anything purchased today wouldn't go out until Monday.

You must pay for the postage at the rate of the day the item is shipped (or picked up by your postal carrier)

Re: Postage increase questions

That's a good question! (I don't know, though.) I have decided to raise my shipping prices tomorrow morning, so I am not over-charging anyone, but won't be stuck with it, either. Too bad it will take so long to adjust all listings...

Re: Postage increase questions

PS: I doubt I will ever see another international purchase....the shipping rates are astronomical!!! This will be very damaging for U.S. exports. And it will go even higher with cap-and-trade restrictions...sigh....

Ah Janet, we overlapped. So we better make sure we are not left holding the bag...I'll be busy tomorrow!

Re: Postage increase questions

Does anyone know how many "shipping profiles" we can create?

Re: Postage increase questions

Claudia, the way I figured it is, it's easier to refund an overcharge (if I get a sale tonight!) than to get stuck with postage due. That's why I did it a day ahead of time.

It only took me an hour to research the new rates for my item weights, adjust my shipping profiles and update my listings, because I have a small shop, and also I delisted my Christmas merchandise before I started.

Wish they had "forever postage" for packages....I'd invest in that!

Re: Postage increase questions

Sorry to see you guys are having to deal with this issue as well, our prices in Aus went up in Oct and it was horrendous!

Try not to think we'll all run away from higher shipping costs though, Aussies (as one example) are used to paying higher shipping costs than most. Half the time it still works out cheaper than buying it in our own country in a shop!

Re: Postage increase questions

International rates have increased significantly, but the heavier the package, the lower the increase. So for those who ship heavy stuff, things are not so bad. For instance, I sent a 20oz package to Spain a couple of days ago and paid $13.17. With the new rates, it will be three more dollars. It is a serious increase, but not as bad as for 4 oz items.

Re: Postage increase questions

I raised mine today. lets see if there is a drop. I have read that some people say it hasn't made a difference. But seeing as the US dollar is weak it might not be too bad.

This goes into more depth (other than the flat rates):
