Hi everyone!

We are going to host some Online Labs for the holidays, and we'd love to get your questions! The guests will be:

Top sellers: PalomasNest and BlackbirdTees. Ask them anything about selling during the holidays (or more generally, successful selling).

http://www.etsy.com/shop/blackbirdtees

AND

Emily Bidwell, who is an Etsy merchandiser - she curates emails and on-site merchandised areas. Ask her about popular items during the holidays and her tips for getting your items featured!

You can see the schedule of the upcoming Labs here:

Thanks in advance, everyone!

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

Hi. New at this. My question is how do I get looks at my shop? I've had items listed since January and have had one look that I know of. I'm getting ready to list a few holiday items. What do I need to do to get them seen? Thanks!

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

Hi,

Interested in so many of the questions asked already. Made many improvements this year to my shop. Look forward to learning more ideas.

I have never had a shop critique, and would really welcome one to increase my sales. Would like to know if the changes and improvements I have made so far are on the right track. Looking forward to adding more to my 'To Do' list.

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

Hi, How do you coordinate your etsy shop and your other websites. Where do you handle wholesale, do you have separate lines for your selling sites?
Thank you!

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

Hello hello...re vintage merch. What is your suggested 'shelf life' for reposting items which have not sold; i.e., max. 3 times and then send to sally army? s.o.s. Could use some serious guidance. Thanks much.

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

Woohoo! Here's my question for Emily...
One of my collection is "Mosaic blues" which is made mostly of bits and pieces of seashells. I was wondering if I should keep this collection in the backstore for winter and the Christmas season? Since seashells are often related to summer I would really like to know what you think about this.
Thanks a lot for doing this for us! ;-)

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

I'm a brand newbie, and I would welcome any suggestions that would help get the sales going. If that involves a shop critique, then great! My shop has hand knit accessories designed by me. I've already been running search ads, and I've tried adjusting prices, but no buyers are biting. I'm even running a "just opened" sale--but with no results.

It's my impression that there is particularly tough competition among hand knit shops, and I'm discouraged about not getting any sales. I use only high grade yarns (no acrylic), but perhaps buyers don't really care. Still, I don't really want to sell items that I don't love--and I don't love acrylic! That forcees me to keep prices a tad higher (although I feel they are already too low).

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

Top Sellers:
Can a shop offer too many items?
Ex. my shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/optic?ref=si_shop
Would I be better off just offering a few items maybe in a variety of colours?
Thanks

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

I have been checking out other shops to see their set up and structure. I have seen a few that offer layaway. I was just wondering how that works since the transaction wouldn't be for the amount of the items listing price.

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

How do you decide if the product your selling isn't popular vs. not enough people are seeing your shop?
Thanks Cheryl

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

I'm very interested in a shop critique. where do I sign up?

also my question is: how do I get people to buy in my shop? I think they are scared to buy from me because I haven't made a sale yet. What am I doing wrong? (my shop is 6 months active)

Thanx!

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

I have a page on facebook & a shop here. I started in Oct. of last year. I got 1 order here right away & nothing since (except a friend ordered on here so he could use his credit card). I've tried some search ads & that got me more attention, but no orders. I'd really appreciate a shop critique & just to know if I'm charging to much or what? I try to see what other people are charging for similar items & be competitive & I offer custom orders, but just not getting any. I'd appreciate any help I can get. I know ideally I need to add more items to my shop (which I slowly) have been, but I don't have the money to make things that aren't getting bought, nor the space to store them. Thanks.

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

HeyMichelle-
Would really appreciate a shop critique. Most shop critiques I've seen have been for jewelry sellers and not fine art shops! We would love some representation and feedback on how to market on Etsy!

Thank you so much in advance.

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

Hi, I see in the list of Upcoming Labs that you are doing Shop Critiques. I've been on Etsy for over 1 1/2 years, but I don't seem to make many sales compared to the traffic my shop gets. Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

1. Do the top sellers have web-sites as well as Etsy shops?
2. How do the top sellers advertise to get people to their shops?

Re: Post your questions for the experts!

Top Sellers: If you've grown from a one-person show to having to add people to help you with your shop, how did you go about doing this? Did you enlist family and friends? How do you figure out who should get paid what from your profits?

Thanks!
