+ Positive Feedback +

Hey everyone..

Just wondering what you all do, if anything special, to ensure that you get positive feedback. I'm kind of nervous because I just started my shop and most of my sales have been to people that I already know, and I am comfortable asking and reminding them to leave feedback after their purchase. I know that people say you will probably only get at most half of your customers to leave feedback, which is fine with me, but I want to ensure that it's positive!

I have it in my note to buyer something like "if you are satisfied please feel free to leave positive feedback, if you are anything but satisfied please chat with me and we can figure something out" And I try very hard to package everything perfectly, communicate and respond quickly, and add a little something extra to everyone's order.

I know how important feedback is here on etsy, but I'm not sure that everyone does (especially non sellers)... Do you all have any tactics or special things that you do to make sure that your feedback is positive?

I asked all of my friends who made purchases to leave some when I first got started. With all orders I put a handwritten thank you note, and I keep communication open so the customer feels welcomed and accommodated. I ask in the note that they leave me feedback because I love to hear about how they feel when they recieve the item. I don't go any further than that, though, other than wishful thinking.

Sadly no matter what you say or do you may get that "one" person who will give a neutral or negative. I agree a gentle reminder as in stating in a card or note" I love postive feedback and will do the same for you" works sometimes but if they are new to Etsy they may think a neutral is ok. If I see a new customer with low feedback I try to communicate alot during the transaction to make them feel secure in the purchase and usually give a "bonus" gift with purchase. Wishful thinking and trying to be positive and not worry too much goes a long way. When I started I was totally nervous and can't say that goes away but sounds like you are on the right track in wanting to make your customers happy =D Good luck to you!

Great communication and cute packaging have always worked for me.

I acknowledge the sale and send another convo when I have shipped. I get about 60% of my customers leaving feedback and many many return customers so I am happy with that.

A lot of buyers just send me a convo to say "thanks, got it, loved it" but don't leave feedback and I am fine with that too.

I think it's something we all worry about, I have a similar note to my customers as you Tess. Mine reads something like this:

"I wish for you to be completely satisfied with your purchases if you have any questions or concerns at all please contact me, if you are pleased with my product and service I would love to have your feedback"

We want to encourage the feedback, but if the customer is for any reason unhappy we want them to come to us first to fix whatever it is before they leave a feedback, I think the only we can do that is to invite them to come to us with any problems. We are all afraid of the neg. but I'm sure it will happen at some point to all of us because sadly you can't please everyone. All the Best =)

At some point I have less then half of the sales generated any feedback. It's gotten better but time will heal a bunch of that issue.

When my shop first started out, I wrote a friendly note included when I sent the order off that said "I hope you love your invitations, I'm a brand new shop on etsy, so if you have a minute to leave feedback for me I'm sure it would help future buyers' confidence in purchasing from me and I'd really appreciate it - Thank you! Ruth"
