Pop-Up Store

I am thinking about hosting a pop-up store locally for the Holiday season.

Anyone else out there ever done this?

Pop ups are very popular in our area. We see a lot of pop up restaurants and Halloween stores. We think it is a good idea.

A pop up is a business that "pops up" in a location for a short period of time... then it is gone.

There a quite a few empty storefronts now and some owners are willing to take on short term, 2 month rentals, instead of long term leases.

I've never done it but it sounds like a great idea with very little risk.

I was thinking about hosting it for a group of artist, not just myself. I am sure contracts would need to be in place with these artist. Other cost I can think of besides rent include credit cards (if accept them), insurance, marketing. I am sure there are more.

Other things to consider our hours of operation and location.

I have always liked the idea of a pop-up shop . . . but it is a lot to work out and spend on your own, I like the idea CNJ of doing it as a group . . . hmmmm, am off to ponder :)

A pop up store is a wonderful way to get your feet wet to see if you would like to have a brick and mortar store! They are a ton of work, however, there is also great reward! Be ready to work long, hard hours! You think you know what that is like, but until you have done it 7 days a week, for 6-7 years you really don't know!

Thanks Evies. I grew up around a family business. I didn't inherit because its really not up my ally, but I am definitely familiar with long hours :)
