Please need some help-no sales :-(

Hello everyone!! I reopened my shop in May & I haven't gotten any sales except one in May-I recently added new photography (just last week) of the products and redid every section along with new banners ect....I was wondering if you could check out my shop please and let me know where I'm going wrong and where there needs to be improvement-thanks so very much!! I'm excited to become part of the etsy community and look forward to meeting fellow etsy sellers/buyers-thanks again!! :-)

Re: Please need some help-no sales :-(

Welcome to the Team.

I am not an expert by any means, but here goes my opinion.

First of all, your jewelry is beautiful.

I will try to offer some ideas based on advice I have received in the past and articles I have read.

One thing I noticed is that in your description you offer your e-mail addres and encourage your prospective customer to contact you by e-mail. You may want to rethink that approach. It is best – and I believe Etsy encourages this – to have all communications through convos. This is for your own protection (just in case there is a disagreement or misunderstanding).

On your store front, the following photo is cut off at the bottom. You may want to re-size it to fit the space allowed:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/232221739/swarovski-crystal-and-pearl-sueded-cord?ref=shop_home_active_...

I understand that descriptions should be clear to avoid misrepresentation. For example: Necklace made with Swarovski crystals, instead of Swarovski Pearl and Crystal Ombre Multi-Strand … Necklace.

Some of the photos of your stand-alone jewelry are too light and seem over-exposed. Example:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/208128137/swarovski-crystal-and-pearl-fashion?ref=shop_home_active_20

The model is gorgeous, but I would suggest your first picture should be your jewelry alone. In my opinion, the jewelry gets outstaged by the model in the small pictures. I would suggest that your first photo is that of the piece of jewelry itself, without distractions. For example, in this photo your earrings get lost.

Here is some advice that I received regarding tags. Most of your tags are only one word. It is best to have two or three word tags that repeat your titles.

For example if your title is: Multi Strand Necklace Made with Swarovski Pearls and Ombre Crystals Silver Chain Toggle Clasp

Your tags should be something like: multi strand necklace, Swarovski pearls, pearl necklace, Swarovski crystals, necklace with crystals, ombre crystals, toggle clasp necklace, silver chain necklace, or something like that.

Some people recommend that you include the name of your shop in your tags.

I am very tired, hard day, but I hope the above is of some help to you.

I wish you a lot of success and many, many sales.

Re: Please need some help-no sales :-(

You have grammar errors and misspellings in your descriptions and on your policy page. The abbreviation for "et cetera" is "etc" not "ect." In some cases you are using a dash where you should be using comma. Several incidences of lower case that should be upper case

In addition, it look like you cut and pasted the descriptions one to the other.
The wording seems unimaginative and you are not creating an image in the viewers mind as to why THEY might look glamourous/sexy/sophisticated.

In your policies in one section you say to contact you through Etsy's message system and in anther you say to do it by email. You want to fix this and make thing simple.

There's something about the photography that I don't like. The lighting is Ok, if a little flat. In this one:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/207905238/leopard-fashion-dangle-earrings

the model's nose calls for more attention than the earrings. Perhaps these were shot with a lens that wasn't long enough for flattering portrait.

On the other side, as a small shop you are making a mistake saying that you'll pay return shipping on preferential returns. You are selling $15-$30 items. If you get 2 returns in a month you could wipe out the entire profit from a sale. And by saying you'll pay return shipping you are encouraging preferential returns.

Re: Please need some help-no sales :-(

I'm a struggling shop owner myself, but here is my two cents:

A large majority of your descriptions start with "Swarovski"... I would change most of them. Vary your titles so you will show up in different searches.

I also prefer the photography of the jewelry alone. The ones with the model look monotonous. Just too many that look similar and the jewelry doesn't stand out.

^He is right! I opened the shop and only saw skin. I know you just redid your photos but that isn't working. Go with a close up as the first picture. I didn't even notice the tags and titles because the pictures created a flesh collage which confused my brain!

Re: Please need some help-no sales :-(

First of all I can't give a critique with telling you first that you jewelry is lovely. I'm new to this too and I don't know all the ins and outs but I'll give you my impressions. I think the jewelry needs to be more prominent in your listing. You can do this by creating more contrast so the jewelry doesn't blend into the photo. Here is one listing you have that I think does that very well.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/justglamdesigns

You want the jewelry to be the star of you listing not the model. There is a good article on Etsy about photographing your items. I truly believe in that old saying a picture is worth a thousand words, and I think your photos are your best selling tool.

Your logo doesn't really speak jewelry to me. I would like to see a more refined header that people will look at and remember, oh that's that shop that has the great jewelry. Maybe include graphic imagery in that looks sparkly like the Swarkovski crystals in your jewelry.

I hope I have given you some constructive ideas. I know that this is subjective but there are core ideas and concepts that do make a great listing I think. Best of luck to you!

Hi, Ginger, use a landscape orientation instead of a portrait orientation for your first photos so they aren't cropped too much. Beautiful work!!

Re: Please need some help-no sales :-(

Wow..congratulations. I really like your designs..I even favorited a few😉 all I can say is maybe on your lighter color jewelry try different backgrounds so they can pop a little more, but I think your shop looks great. Try social media to get the word out.. I'll share your shop on my twitter because I really like your jewelry.. Good luck

Re: Please need some help-no sales :-(

Hi Ginger,

I think selling jewellery on etsy is a tough one, you're going to have to really stand out, it's such a flooded market.
I can't comment on the things you sell as I'm a bloke and know nothing about that sort of thing, I'd be interested to know if your viewing stats are good though, are you getting traffic to your shop?
If not then you need to look at tags and even consider the promotion option etsy offers.
