Re: Please Critique my shop.

OK, I'll be first.
1)Look at this treasury that made it to the front page.

How would your items look there? Not all treasuries are so "white", but many are. Your backgrounds are dull gray. Can you make some of them white, and perhaps some of the rustic looking - just to try something different.

2) You have your "sort" set to custom, but the items seem very random to me. Try sorting them by item - such as a row of rings. It's so much easier for a shopper to compare them that way. Or sort by color.

I didn't look, but do you belong to any other teams? Usually teams support each other, and help by favoriting your items so more people see them

Just some thoughts....

Re: Please Critique my shop.

Hello Gail,
Thank you for taking a look at my shop and providing feedback.
Are there any special programs you suggest to filter the background?

I will work on my sorting. I opened my shop last April with very few items. These past four months I have worked on taking photos of each piece and adding it to the shop.

As of right now I only belong to two teams. I have been trying to figure out how to make my shop more appealing by searching through Google.

Thanks again for your Feedback. :)

Re: Please Critique my shop.

Improving your photos will really make a huge difference--your items are already stunning, we just have to figure out how to make them pop!

If you want to stick with a white background, try using natural light instead. Find a window that lets in a good amount of light and start shooting on a cloudy, overcast day. Clouds are natural diffusion so you won't end up with any harsh shadows! Now, make sure you're wearing a white shirt and have your hair pulled back if it is dark. Any sort of color can reflect onto the white background--which is why I stopped wearing my bright pink robe during photography sessions, even if I do freeze a bit!

The worst part of using a white background is the blue tint you will usually get. Keep working with your white balance on your camera to counteract it during the photography portion and then use a good editing program like picmonkey or ipiccy (both free!) to adjust the tones of the photo, and then brighten them up!

Best of luck!!

Re: Please Critique my shop.

Just edit your pictures.. photoshop has a tool where it will correct bad lighting very easily. Also make sure your small pictures look good a lot of yours are cut off and its hard to read the jewelry design at first glance.

Re: Please Critique my shop.

I briefly looked at your shop and I really like your pieces :-) Definitely brighten up your pics, makes all the difference. Also, can you get a larger file of your banner because it's grainy and that's everyone's first impression.

Best of luck!
