As soon as August rolls into September, and the summer here in New York comes to a close, I can’t help but think about the upcoming Holiday Season. Instead of searching for items for myself, I start prioritizing other people’s wish-lists. Since I usually don’t have a big spending budget to purchase items, naturally, this shift sparks a fire in me to DIY my holiday gifts, which in turn, inspires me to work on my Etsy shop.

This year, I’m going to approach things a little differently. Instead of prioritizing handmade gifts, I’m going to set goals around my shop. My goal for this year is to stock more items and create holiday themed branding, such as gift wrap and an updated banner, that I can highlight in my shop and in social media.

To help us achieve our goals throughout the Holiday Season, the Seller Education team has been hard at work compiling a great series of educational content. Lets start this Holiday Season off right by signing up for this years Holiday Bootcamp: https://blog.etsy.com/en/2014/register-now-for-holiday-boot-camp-2014/

Next, think about what your goals are for this Holiday Season and share them with us below!* A goal can be anything from listing a new item to reaching your 100th sale. By writing them down and sharing with others, you'll reinforce your commitment to them. Who knows, your goal could inspire others or even be featured in an upcoming Online Labs event with the Seller Education Team!

*When sharing your goal for this season, please introduce yourself and share how long you've been selling on Etsy.

Hello, I have had my shop an Etsy for about 8 months. My goal for the holiday season is build up to 75 listings and develop and follow a thorough marketing plan. I also want to "revamp" my shop in the next few weeks to prepare for the holiday season. Instead of focusing on "sales" as a goal I want to know that I have done everything I can at 100% to get those sales. I believe by doing that the sales will come naturally.

Hello!

My shop specializes in knits and sewing projects.

My goals for this holiday season is to:

1. Try to get as close to 100 items as possible. I have 66 now, and I have about 10 items to list.
2. Work on my visibility and interactions on instagram/twitter/facebook.
3. Work on some of my photography on some of my items.
4. Try to get the visibility of my store up. So far my view stats are low.

Re: Placeholder

I'm Tamara and I opened my shop in January 2013. So it is my second Holiday season but last year I didn't had any prepperations or something special for the holidays. Even this year I'm not sure where to start or how to start.

My goals are:
- list more winter items (at least 2 scarfs and a blanket)
- have a clear planning on taking custum orders and shipping.
- have 5 sales for the end of the year.

I hope that is not to optimistic. Most important thing of them all, is having a real holiday season. Even when it is with one sale...

Re: Placeholder

I have had my shop treasurechestnm.etsy.com a few years. I sell limited edition and one of a kind jewelry designs. Recently I have been changing some of my tags and descriptions hoping to get more interest. I also will be adding some holiday specific designs to the shop which I hope will help drive more customers. Its fun when I get a "like" and even more fun when something of mine is put into a treasury and the best is when a sale get finalized. I am still learning about treasuries and want to do more of them myself. Cheers to a great holiday season for everyone.

I have just started my store properly today! I sell handmade leather journals and other leather goods. It is seriously exciting seeing my "views" increase as I promote my page to my friends on Facebook.

I can't wait to get a sale.. or even people favouriting my page. It's all an exciting journey!! Thanks so much for sharing your encouragement.

My shop has been open for awhile now and I realized that I wasn't really taking it seriously. Sales would trickle in and I would go WOW! it's working...then nothing. This holiday season I've set my goals to:
- add at least 10 new listing per week
- promote regularly on social media
- get involved with my ETSY community
- like and promote at least 5 other ETSY shops per day

Re: Placeholder

I took stock of ready made items and listed them in a "Ready to ship" category. So the customer that wants a quick gift for a loved one with a slight price reduction will get that item faster.
