Re: Pinterest

I recently made a sale and i asked the buyer where she came across my merchandise. Her response was " Pinterest" , therefore I helped me make a sale.
Advice: Use any means of free promotion. Continue to post on Pinterest
Good Luck!

Re: Pinterest

I seldom post my own items unless it is something I truly love, instead use it to promote items from shops I like. I can't say it has helped my shop, but it can't hurt. I think of it as a way to express my interests, not promote myself :) I just love Pinterest!
Good Luck!

Re: Pinterest

Please read Pinterest's "Pin Etiquette" : http://pinterest.com/about/etiquette/
Pinterest is NOT meant for self promotion. It's o.k. to pin a few items of your own to your board but any more than that is considered spam. I think I heard something like 10% of your own items and 80% of everything else is o.k.

Re: Pinterest

You're really not suppose to only use it to pin your own items and I think they can suspend your account there for it.

Re: Pinterest

I don't post on Pinterest, but it seems like people have found my shop through it.

Re: Pinterest

the thing with pinterest is that it generally goes by recency so unless someone is searching for your items they won't ever see them again. so you have to keep yourself out there, repinning other people or following them and then they'll go look at you or someone will see your post and come look at you and maybe follow you. it's like fb in that way, unless anyone is following you then no one is going to see your stuff.

Re: Pinterest

In the last 30 days I have had 6 views from pinterest. In the last 12 months I have had 46 views from pinterest.

I think in order to develop followers you have to pin things you like from a variety of websites. THen, once you have followers those folks might repin the things you made or like the things you make. THus, getting views. I have no sales as a result of pinterest. But, out of my 100+ pins less then 10 are things I make. I try to think KARMA will help. I pin things I like on etsy and hope someone out their does the same when they see my stuff!

Good advice folks!

Waving back to Terri =)

I just wanted to repost this because it seems like a lot of people missed it:

Pin because it's fun or don't pin but please don't pin in the hopes that you are going to make a sale, or get seen on etsy, it really defeats the purpose of pinterest, and nobody likes spam.

Re: Pinterest

I always tweet my things. I have gotten more views from Twitter than any other social networking site. Facebook works well too.

Re: Pinterest

It doesn't say that you can't use it for self promotion. It says to not use it 'purely' for self promotion. I pin my items and a lot of other things too so my ratio is good. I think as long as you are using it for things other than just promo then it's okay!

It's up to Pinterest to tell you what you can and can't do, not users. :)
